SKSE

It's a success because the modding community fixes it

There has never been any proof to support that modding is why people buy Bethesda games. There games sell more on consoles then they do on PC - and they only just now recieved some minor mod support. Modding adds longevity and replayability to their games - nothing more.

It's funny you mention that Arthmoor, because a lot of what SKSE does allows modders themselves to fix a crap tone of bugs Bethesda themselves refuse to fix in their own source code. If I was Bethesda and a smart programming designer with the source code. I would use the SKSE to go through the implementations and find out what kind of wholes we have and look at improving it.

Example: Small fixes like dead body collisions. Why is that important? Because it should already be in the game. It's 2017 and they should have had that in the game engine since Oblivion. Another gripe which they finally fixed in FO4 and the update for Skyrim SE. Rain going through the roofs. I mean it's simple things they could use SKSE to use and go through their engine to see what needs to be fixed, but they don't do that. They still have stupid crap like that not in their game is ridiculous.

There is a limited amount of developer time devoted to post-release patching. So if you were a Bethesda programmer, you'd not be given the chance to do as you say. You get paid to do what the boss tells you to do, and if he tells you to stop patching the game, you stop patching the game. If you defy that, you get fired. That's reality. It has nothing to do with them being lazy or incompetent.

Dead body collisions? NO THANKS. Dropping a dead dragon in the middle of Falkreath would be highly disruptive to navigation. That's not a bug, it's an intentionally chosen mechanic of the game. You as the player may be able to adapt easily, but the NPCs can't, and Bethesda has to think of them too.

Rain occlusion though I'll give you. That's a 15 year old feature of any decent RPG with weather included. They simply chose not to enable the support for it. Gamebryo itself has been able to do this all along. So they still didn't need the SKSE team to fix this for them, and as examples go, it's a poor one because SKSE doesn't provide rain occlusion for those games that don't have it.

Ye olde Skyrim runs like poop with a lot of mods. SKSE, save us!

This made me laugh. Although I don't understand. If by "Ye olde Skyrim" you mean LE, then SKSE IS available for it. If you still meant SE, then nevermind...

No updates since the brief note on the Silverlock page in April.

Alas. I will keep waiting. A lot of modders and players are still holding on for it. Perhaps somebody else will pick it up or they'll resume work on it later.

People need to let go.

Of what? The prospect of endless fun? Nah. I don't think I will.

The only thing off the top of my head that I can think of at this moment is that reload bug that adds perks to NPCs. Meh321's "Bug Fixes" remedies that, and I wouldn't mind having it on SE.

But that's it! I like a lot of SKSE features, but as far as bug fixing goes, that's it for me. They already fixed the other problem he addressed in Bug Fixes (Lip Sync).

Bethesda implements what they need in Papyrus. They didn't need what SKSE offers, so that's why it's not part of the game. It's really just that simple. If they should find they need something that SKSE does, they'll just write their own implementation of it directly into their source code. They don't need to reverse engineer their own exe file. Plus there will likely be other engine support related to what they're doing that even SKSE isn't currently able to provide.

There's already a mod for dead body collisions:

"or that the team allows forks of their work."

MUH COEPY RIGHTS MUH ENDORZZEEMNTOS MUH ACKNOLOEDGEMNTS MUH STREET CREDZ MUH WORSHIP POINTZZZ

Don't do drugs kids.

Dangit, Ethreon! You made me spit soda on my monitor laughing...

Really, you laughed at one of the overly used snowclone/templates when it comes to inadequate comebacks?

Seriously though, this thread is the sole reason we need paid mods. This project is dead because of the authors' arrogance.

Because of their arrogance? The only one being arrogant here is you, kid. I don't understand some people, why is it so difficult to understand? It will be ready when it's ready, not before, and certainly not because you whine about it.

"MY CODE, MY RULEZ MKAAAY?"

btw I liked the gerontocratic touch there. Made me remember one of my Vietnamese friends, he always, always insulted people with the "kid" word, and no, English wasn't his mother language. Has to do with lack of vocabularity I guess.

BRUH!! I'm proud of you for sitting down with google and a dictionary to learn the word gerontocratic and all, but srsly, 24 days to figure that out and come up with a reply? And who cares about your Vietnamese friend? Srsly, if you're convinced that your entitlement holds some power over people who are obviously smarter and much more skilled at programming, then maybe you should spend another couple months googling hubris, chutzpah, pretension, audacity, conceitedness, contemptuousness, nerve, ostentation, pomposity, pretentiousness, self-importance, and finally learn how to f***ing spell. Instead of "vocabularity", try vocabulary. P.S. Big words are fun, but small ones are good too. Please shove your head back up your ass and toddle back to xbox live with the other 12 year olds, kid.

I only come here to check the progress and the brown nosers' self-humiliation with the SRSLY YOUR ENTITLED LEL DO IT BETTER YERSELF LEL approach. Thank you for suggesting those 'big words' (which are already part of my volcabularity by the way, took some GRE classes in the past and speak five languages including a dead one) but SRSLY just accept that some people are intellectually superior to you, they don't have to stick to your usual I you me fun game yes cavemen daily speech patterns and stop coming with the philistine approach against any word you don't see every day.

See you in a week or two. Please don't quit your job to prepare a comeback for this as the society needs its hamburgers.

You're welcome.

Lol, Philistine. You sound like a bad parody of that old sniper meme. I can't even with this s*** sentence structure. Say what you want, but you're still a self-entitled little s***.

No.

QED.
