mikeeee1231
Hello, i'm having problems with custom textures, some works, some other not, yes everything is installed well and well, that's not realy the subject, someone on the Nexus told me that it may be because i have too many "archive invalidation".I'm using more than one mod launcher and used different archive invalidate. Is it really the cause of the problem? I don't know of yet, but it probably is. So i decided to download Vortex since it looks good, it will be the only one i'll be using (and LOOT), i'll reinstall everything from scratch but i'll keep my inis. So here's my question, supposedly that the archive invalidate on Vortex is better than every other because you don't have to enable / desable it every time, is it true? Also, what should i do exactly? All in order.Do i need to activate it in the Vortex? Someone said that we don't need to, i just want to be sure.Settings -> Workarounds -> BSA Redirection.and then MODS -> Enabled - Vortex Archive Invalidation. So far so good? Next, i entirely removed [Archive] and its content from FalloutPrefs.ini and FalloutDefault.iniand changed everything in Fallout.ini to: [Archive]SArchiveList=Fallout - Textures.bsa, Fallout - Textures2.bsa, Fallout - Meshes.bsa, Fallout - Voices1.bsa, Fallout - Sound.bsa, Fallout - Misc.bsa Is it good or not?I still have the texture problem but i guess i'll have to reinstall but i want to be sure that i do the right thing after reinstalling the game so i don't have to reinstall it again.Should i add "bInvalidateOlderFiles=1" and some other lines back? I hope that someone will be able to answer me what to do in order, i'd really appreciate the help, thanks!
HadToRegister
So i decided to download Vortex since it looks good, it will be the only one i'll be using (and LOOT), i'll reinstall everything from scratch but i'll keep my inis. No need to use standalone LOOT, it's already built into Vortex.

The oft repeated claim that you have to toggle AI on and off with each mod installation is "fake news." You enable it and then leave it alone. I've used AI (both popular versions) ever since Oblivion, and I never had to employ the toggle routine. 3, Yes, use the Vortex AI. Follow the procedure you've laid out. 4. Stripping the [Archive] sections from your .ini's is not a good move. Restore them. 5. Enabling AI in Vortex may not solve you particular issue. That problem may have other causes. However, you absolutely must enable AI in a modded Fallout NV. Otherwise the Courier is going to have a more miserable existence than the game already grants him. AugustaCalidia
Here's a tip for those of you having trouble making Vortex archive invalidation work in Fallout NV. Before activating archive invalidation, be sure your Fallout.ini file is not write protected. If it is, Vortex AI will not be activated when you toggle it on. I found this out today when I installed Fallout NV to another computer of mine. Vortex AI would not work, and so I checked the Fallout.ini file. For reasons known only to the computer gods, it turned out to be "Read Only." Once I removed the write protection and turned on Vortex AI, everything worked. Just for good measure, I re-deployed after turning on AI. I don't know if that helped, but it certainly didn't hurt.
Vallence
I was having trouble with it being Read-Only but when I turned that off it reset itself everytime I launched the game, removing all the .ini tweaks.I can't work out how to stop this from happening.Edit: I had to set fallout_default.ini to have the same [Archive] section, then it worked. Fallout_ini has to have the same archive section as what other file?????
Zanderat
Don't ever mess with Fallout default_ini. I know that there are some older guides that say to. Just don't. Make all your changes in FalloutCustom.ini.
