"Could Be Light"

Cool. But Wrye has been doing this for a while. At least it is actually checking to see if it is eligible to convert to light.

Vortex uses LOOT to check if the plugin is eligible.

am i dreaming? is this legit? does that mean i don't have to do mega merges for all those patches anymore what wait i..i think i need a moment

Well, you don't have to merge for the purpose of reducing the number of plugins, flagging eligible plugins as "light" should be much easier and less intrusive.

However you might still have to merge mods

a) to merge leveled lists

b) if you don't have enough plugins that could be light

I use MatorSmash for a)

I have found that all that is marked as light gets unmarked after you restart vortex (close it and open it again. inevitable if you want to shut down your pc duh)

Verify if it stuck with Wrye or xEdit.

Quick test with SSE, install SkyUI, mark it light, exit Vortex, re-start Vortex, SkyUI is still marked as light.

Reasons they've lost their "light" flag is, you've purged your mods, or you've deployed and when asked you choose to revert back to the original files instead of using the new files instead.

My light flags continue to fly. I have turned off and turned on my computer many times since hoisting those light flags.

Same.

I experience no files "reverting" they remain marked "light"

Additionally, the root files clearly show the esp flagged as esl in xEdit.

This is too good to be true.

Has anyone else done what I'm currently doing, and just turned on the COULD BE LIGHT filter and went to town?

At this point, one suggestion I have is the ability to select multiple Plugins and turn them "Light" instead of one by one.

Fiat lux!
