Hey everyone. Sorry for the lack of updates, but came to say that the brow morphs are almost done. Just doing the brows for the race morphs, then apart from tweaks, it'll be done. Both male and female will use the female adult eyebrow texture, because the male makes them look like Frankenstein's Monster children, or Neanderthals.

 

I'm also making a few new hair meshes. First time I've done it, and it's looking good so far.

wow! Nice work buddy, really looking forward to seeing this come together!

 

once your initial release is out, i'll start looking to see how easy it'd be to add a few adoptable children of the relevant races as well, or perhaps making some that are added by yourself adoptable - depending on where they are obviously! If you have suggestions on some you think would make sense based on them being orphans etc, give me a shout!

Thought I'd post a small update. Today i altered how the children were lit in the Skyrim engine. I think a few pages back I showed a comparison between the normals the children use and the normals the adults use. Well I changed all that. The children now use Normals that look like this.

The output from blender wasn't right, so I had to merge it with parts from the default female nord msn and made some rather noobish corrections (I'm not that good at texturing). I think the nose part is off centre, which makes the noses ingame look slightly crooked, so I'll have to fix that. Also, as it give the faces more definition with shadows, it's become apparent that most of my nose morphs are too thin, and the normal is too wide at the top of the nose. Also there's seams, but they're not really any worse than they are on the default children.

 

Anyway some more images (Sorry for the sizes and the darkness. I'll make the custom cellspace brighter and maybe see if I can cluster them closer to get better images.

Breton

Dark Elf

High Elf

Imperial

Nord

Orc

Redguard

Sea Elf (I thought it would be fun)

Wood Elf

 

Thinking about the beast races at this time gives me a headache.

So I got a proper program that'll help me bake normals properly (xnormal), and I discovered that to get the kids the normal to output properly, I had to use a dummy mesh (all parts), rotate them around, then literally flip them on the X axis, or else when a light source was on their right, their left side would light up. They're not looking so weird now either. I look at the pics above and some of them look like victims of bad plastic surgery.

Pic from inside the CK ^^ I'm using this test cell mainly to check morphs, lighting and for clipping issues, where I can make a group of them with different settings and check for issues. The only issue I've found so far is when their brow is set low and eyes high, and their mood or dialogue is set to angry, the top of their nose crumples up like the front of a car in a head-on collision. I'm going to have to change the angry morph to reduce the crumplage.

These are really looking good! I'm glad you're sticking with it, because this really is the best childrens overhaul I've seen so far - The kids actually blend very well with vanilla, yet look different & interesting from each other, which is something lacking in all the other overhaul mods to date.
