  1. If you are looking for a reason to go to your vault, I have a town in need of a Water Purifier to repair their old one...

I was just going to raid Vault 108, but if your interested I could send them toward your Vault.

I am also building some new furniture meshes and such, and I can save you a copy of the perfect condition version before I start tearing it down to fit the Fallout world, if you are interested in useing that in you vault.

This is the mod that I have just started on, if you are interested in working the story into mine or whatever

    http://thenexusforums.com/index.php?showtopic=137271

  2. The front area that comes out is not a column, it is actualy a small entry room with a window on each of the three sides, I just don't have the windows in yet

and I do have some columns in the work, but they are takeing some time, since I am putting in quite a bit of detail, it also has a small fence around the front porch

  3. I actualy want to have the Super Mutant Barbar play a song on Galaxy News Radio if I can find someone who can mimic Three Dogs voice and do an intro for it... something about getting a tape from some crazy super mutant barber...

As far as how you find it, im really not too sure yet

I figured if I build it, people will come and make quests

  4. Well, as a 3D Moddeler I have to do the opposite of fixing the buildings up...

I am going to start with them all in perfect condition, and work from there (perfect condition will not be in the game unless someone wants to borrow the models for some sort of flashback or dream or something)

The top level in the game will be worn, but look well patched up and fixed

The second level will look partialy repaired but still under construction

And the first level will be broken down and neglected

I may add an extra level in somewhere, but that is the general idea

  5. I am building some new houses for my mod

I am going to build them to where they are in 100% condition, and then tear them down to look Fallout like, but if you like, I can save a copy of the 100% condition house and let you use it

(The goal is that I can have the ability to repair the house on my mod, so I have to have stages of destruction for it...)

  6. Wow this is looking great! Will that water be part of the village? If so will it be kind of like a community pool or just pretty water to look at?

They have a water purifier so it will be totaly fresh water they can use for crops, drinking, or swimming in, though no one can swim in the far left pond, since that is where they get the drinking water from

well, it won't start out totally fresh, you have to fix the purifier to get it in good shape, before that it is slightly irradiated and no one swims in it

it is a big part of the restoration of the town

also, here is some of my progress on the house am working on

once I get the first one done the rest will be a lot easier

  7. ....

The game is overall very depressing and having an option to help the next generation of people would be a wonderful thing. Especially if you can influence their behavior towards being a "guardian of the peace" or "destroyer of nations."

    ...

    LHammonds

Can not agree more but you're too kind with depressing, dystopic would be a more nailed description, I got the feeling after some rounds that what ever you do or try to achieve it's a waste. People around you will not gain the prospering benefits of your deeds, there is no way of "saving" people to be or get something better to live for, there is no evolving dynamic at all, it's to static. The idea of adoptable child or even extended to teen to raise and train to be successors and make difference in this after world is a really thrilling idea, but I think that will need some heavy scripting and revamp of the basic FO3 play setup.

Although to be on topic IF there was this kind of mod available would people like something like a Sims approach to raise and get a lot of treats to push or pull the outcome of the parenting? It reminds me of the parenting in The Witcher of the young boy (forgot the name) but you had the options to be kind of strict or sloppy, never found out if that made any bigger difference but you got the options to be a good or bad parent

Would be interesting to know what options to select among would appeal to people if a mod like this was available?

The whole concept of haveing people prosper from what you do, and createing a beakon of hope in the Wasteland is the whole idea behind the mod I am working on. Haveing a dynamic and evolving town that changes depending on what the player does...

I already have extra rooms in the player house I am building, and I could have the kid work on the farm during the day, so when you come back at night he will have stuff done and help you out.

I however don't know how to make dialogue or script characters to do stuff...

I could also build the orphanage in one of my two empty buildings in my town if anyone would be willing to work on the dialogue and quest aspect of it

  8. Any help at all is appreciated, and any feedback on my characters and ideas is helpful

makeing a video would be awesome once I'm done, but that will be a while

    but anyways

    *****picture moved to later post*****

Now I have to go through and make a blueprints for the rooms in each house... I am already almost done with the player house, and am working on a log cabin. After I set out the blueprints for the houses, I will start takeing the peices from my already built houses and arrange them into new ones to fill up the town

    01 - Tavern

    02 - General Store

    03 - Mayor's House

    04 - Barber

    05 - Open

    06 - Medicine Shop

    07 - Open

    08 - Barracks / Gate

    09 - Bakery

    10 - Player House

    11 - Other Farm

    12 - Carpenter

    13 - Blacksmith

    14 - Library

  9. I want my pc to become a parent NOT a pedo scc is boring you dont get the response other than the usual line of companions and ofcourse it should be karmabound so evil caracters cant adopt

the pedo thing was just a joke aimed at Zeonic Glory, I would never think of accusing you of wrong innapropriate intentions

but anyways, you still havn't really explained exactly what you want...

do you want them to just follow you around like a companion or do you want them to stay home and wait for you to come back...

or do you just want someone to add more dialogue?

The simple thing is, depending on what exactly you want, I may think about incorporateing it into my mod, but I need more details and such. I am currently building a town, and I have two open buildings I am going to have open for stuff to add on, and it could very well be used for you to build a Wasteland Orphanage, or I could put a room in your house to keep whatever kids need a home or something...

But don't you understand how little "I want to addopt a kid" tells me... how do you want it implemented into gameplay?

  10. a-ha! found a small version of a packet i was hoping for, just look up HRezTextures, it's going towards what i'm looking for, a few more mods like this and i'll be more than satisfied. :) it's not QUITE what i was hoping for mind you, but it's MUCH better than nothing.

Hurray, I can live another day, Nazereth357 is satisfied!

  11. Wow...thats so descriptive, and very incredible :D

First off, nobody knows me here, but I've been secretly checking on this mod ever since I saw it (Yet I don't even own the PC version of Fallout 3 :P )

Second, I think that it all fits Karen pretty well. Nothing really seemed out of place, and I love it when people are really tough looking, but nice inside :D

I can't wait to see what this turns out to be, and see this as one of the biggest "unofficial" mods for Fallout 3.

Oh, and can't wait to see the other character descriptions :D

    Good luck!

Well, at least I know some people actualy read my ramblings

I have a few more typed up, but I don't want to post them untill I get some more feedback, because then people would get distracted with all the characters, but Karen is deffinatly the most advanced so far, since I found her personality to be one of the more interesting to work with...

I have been thinking about also haveing a big sister / little sister type relationship form between Karen and the little girl. The girl that gets left out by her older brother and the other kids because she is too young, and is forgoten about by her crazy grandma who can hardly tell the difference between a Deathclaw and her own grandkids (I'm not makeing fun of old people, she had made way too many "experemental" potions that have fried her brain into an almost constant halucagenic state... but she still makes damn good stimpaks if you bring her stuff from you farm)

As you develop a relationship with Karen, she will start to open up, and you will unlock dialogue with both Karen and the Little girl that reveals that they have become good freinds. I may also include the Super Mutant into this little group of outcasts... Mabe make some sort of quest that involves the three of them...

  12. yeh, I should've figured :/ but the one thing i want most from those mods is the weapon/armor texture update, is there currently one out that covers a multitude of meshes? Because I've only seen retextures on specific items

so you seriously expect people to go through and overhaul every weapon and armor made by Bethesda...

    wow...

  13. 'scuse me while I go 'adopt' Knock Knock, Lucy, and Bumble...

Eulogy Jones will sell you Bumble for a reasonable price...

isn't it a little odd that the first two people to respond to this were the two biggest lolicon perverts on the site...

EDIT by LHammonds: Strike earned for personal attacks on other members of this site.

But anyways, what exactly do you mean by adoption the kid? Before someone can make something that have to have some kind of idea on what exactly you are wanting...

Do you just want them to stay at you house, or follow you around, or call you mommy or daddy

People on this website are way to general about stuff, and that is why nothing ever gets made

  14. That would be great, especially since our mod is hillbilly country of Virginia.

Well, my references are from Little House on the Prairie... which is Kansas (I only spent 17 years in the state...)

just because I remember reading the book and all the discriptions of them building it and everything (and that was like 7 years ago...)

But a log cabin is still a log cabin regardless of where it is built

  15. My first complex character description

    tell me what you think

Karen is pretty much your loner type character. She sets up a front as a rude, bad girl character to keep people at a distance. She acts tough and a bit like a whiney emo girl that doesn't like much of anything, but that is really because she is afraid to open up to people. She doesn't want to be hurt again. Every time before when she cared about someone they ended up dieing or leaving her alone.

The biggest factor in this is that her parents and big sister died when she was about 12 or so, before that she was pretty normal. She says she hates them for leaveing her and joining up with the Brotherhood of Steel (they were former members, left for several years to settle down, but returned to the Brotherhood when they desperately needed help) Her sister went along with her parents. She says they betrayed her by leaving her alone, but really, she deeply admires them for what they did, but is overcome with sadness that they are dead. One of her quests will probly be to recover the holotags of her parents and information on how they died.

Karen makes more than enough money being a waitress at the bar at nights, but she still spends most of her days working as a security gaurd, not because she needs to, but because she feels obligated too. She is really a very careing person deep inside. Though she says she hates the people of the town, she would put her life on the line to save them. If you talk to the young girl in the town, she will tell you of the time she wandered off, and Karen was the one that came out and saved her from a group of raiders that had captured her. You will never hear this story from Karen, but if you talk to the girl you will get the option to ask Karen about it, and she will try to avoid the subject.

You can also find Karen out at night on the hill behind the city. She is usualy reading, or playing guitar. (if I can get the animation to work sitting down... I can provide the music, I'm out of practice, but really, it is the Wasteland, she wouldn't be too great to begin with with no sort of way to formaly learn) She will never go into the library, but if you talk to Maria you will find out that books sometimes disapear for a week or so and just re appear later. If you talk to Karen she will claim she knows nothing about it. She is also secretly freinds with the Super Mutant. If you ask him who taught him to play guitar, he won't tell you, saying that it is a secret, but he will talk kindly of Karen. (yes, I am going to have a guitar playing Super Mutant if I can get it figured out, I'll put more info later)

I assume you saw the concept I did of Karen's initial outfit. (if not scroll down. it is at the bottom of this post) You will learn that she wears the armor all the time, even when not on duty, to keep the guys at the Tavern from treating her like a sex object. (you know how guys get when at bars...) She has been arested a few times for assaulting customers at the bar (usualy out of town traders who are just visiting) for makeing a move on her.

When she starts falling in love with you, she will pull out one of her sister's old outfits that she says she always thought looked beautiful on her sister. She is shy about wearing short skirts and girly clothes, so it takes a while to get her to wear that stuff, and she will comment about that when she wears it.

If you get her to open up, and then you dump her or cheat on her, she will simply just put a bullet in your head. Karen would never cheat on you once she starts to like you.

Karen is one of the younger girls, being the same age or slightly younger than the player character, who is 18. She is also a lot less likely to want to start a family, but more likely to have sex before getting married or moveing in. She will invite you to the back hotel room of the Tavern when you get her to really fall in love with you.

  16. They also require you to 3D model a lot of logs to make up a simple wall and add extra geometry to the house...

But It shouldn't be too big of a deal

I won't be building anything too big with logs however, but I will get some log cabins made to put into the agriculture mod if you like

I can probly take my already existing house meshes I am working on and just add semi-circle logs on the side of it and remove the door and window sections and replace it with something more primative

I will send you a pic once I get started on it, but it may be a week or two with my sceduel of other things besides modding that I must work on

  17. I think I may just do that when I get to the interior of my town, I really like playing around with lighting in Max, but havn't tried it in Fallout though

But lighting can make or break a scene, and lighting with no shadows is a bit akward

but I won't be getting to that for another couple of weeks

  18. The biggest problem is that you can only have one set of clothes meshes for the game, so unless you are going to have everyone naked, it really won't make any difference in the end...

Cali looks the same as Babe and Slim when you use an outfit

So it realy wouldn't be worth it unless you had an outfit custom made to that body type and had them only be able to use that outfit

but clothes meshes do not change based on the body type you have

  19. LOL

    thats crazy!

but why would his have old guns and cavalry uniforms, those are all like 400 years old!

Well the simple thing is, it is his mod, and I don't want my crazy ideas to conflict with the theme and atmosphere he is going for, so I am just going to take the buildings and furniture and wagon wheels, as well as the stuff for the carpenter and blacksmith and everything else like that, and transfer it over to his world, but leave out the stuff he doesn't like.

I was origionaly planning to build only one town to be put in his worldspace, but I was assumeing he was going for an all out Wild West, Hang em High, The Good the Bad and the Ugly type of mod. But he decided to set the mod in the Bull Run area, which is southern style, and while my meshes and textures and wagons and tractors will all work just fine, my characters and stuff no longer really fit as well.

But I am still working with him on his mod, just haveing an alternate town of my own, where I can make it closer to Fallout lore and stuff. But I still beleive we both benifit from working together
