Why has nobody made a new superior Alternate start mod?
7531Leonidas replied to CuckoldBen's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim SE
Take a look at Alternate Perspective ( https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/50307 ) and its add-ons. I am not currently using the latest version, but I enjoyed it, if a bit bugged. The latest version may work out a bunch of those, but I think that the add-ons probably need bug-stomping... -
Try this - get to the entrance, The Lost Sanctuary, and open the console. Click on the entrance, and record the refID number there. Click on the left, center, and right to make sure that they match. Use the first four digits of the ID (the load order position) to show you which mod owns the Lost Sanctuary entrance. You could install More Informative Console ( https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/19250 ), and it will tell you directly which mod is the last to affect/change that location. Just make sure that you get the right version for your game, and install all of the required files you do not already have installed.

For the SkyrimPrefs.ini - I believe that you have to add those lines to your copy of the .ini in your Documents\My Games\Skyrim Special Edition folder. Check for help on the Rudy ENB page, or ask for help there. Same for the Skyrim.ini. I suggest that you backup both before you add/edit anything. I usually change the file extension in the name to tell me what I intended to replace: .default or .original in the case of changing an unedited file from your original installation. That way, you can simply change it back to .ini if you mess something up. The SkyrimPrefs.ini in the install directory steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition should not be edited, as it is a resource to create a default version of the .ini in your Documents folder upon game installation, it is not a working file.

Well, I am running out of guesses. Check your SKSE log to make sure that your .dll files are loading correctly. The crash log seems to indicate that something is really messing with your Skyrim installation. Verify your game files in Steam? Post your crash log on the crash logger page, if you can. Check to make sure that you have all of the latest Visual Studio redistributables installed. Double-check your SKSE dependent mods for compatibility with your 1.6.640 game version. A guide is at ( https://modding.wiki/en/skyrim/users/skse-plugins ).
-
Describe the errors - there is a log for SKSE, usually in your Documents/My Games/Skyrim Special Edition/SKSE. You can post it in this thread, using spoiler tags or the spoiler tool - the third icon from the left in the top of the reply/post window. You might have a mod or two that is not properly matched/updated with your Skyrim and SKSE64 version. You can go to this site ( https://modding.wiki/en/skyrim/users/skse-plugins ) to check for updates for specific versions of Skyrim SE/AE.

That looks more like what I would expect from a crash log. I hope that it makes more sense to you, too. A couple of questions: 1. What do you use as a mod manager? 2. Do you use LOOT, or in the case of Vortex, its built-in LOOT to manage load order? A suggestion - use your mod manager to disable SkyBirds and Birds of Skyrim, and any patches for them, then try playing for a few minutes. I used one or both long ago, maybe even in Skyrim LE, and both were notorious for causing problems and crashes for me. I assume that this was true because the game had to load all possible distant grids as I moved.
-
Yep, those settings are often 'hiding in plain sight'. Since Vortex has so many features, to me they can sort of blend into the background, at least until something bites you. I think I pretty much disabled both of those when I first started with Vortex, along with enabling the FNIS animations update.

Blocking decreases FOV. Any mod solutions?
7531Leonidas replied to OffPHwnr's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim SE
anjen - I was not trying to disagree, just realized that I did not specify the lack of an FOV change in my own game. Sometimes communicating by message/phone/etc stinks. A misunderstanding elsewhere in RL is costing me a good bit of money on a sale... Edited my earlier post to make it clear(er). -
Wow, that does not look at all like the reader help. I understand why you would be confused. Are you sure that you got the crash logger report, and not the log for crash logger starting up? Crash logs are located in "Documents\My Games\\Skyrim Special Edition\SKSE" or "Documents\My Games\Skyrim VR\SKSE - from the mod page. I do not use this version as of yet, so I haven't seen a report from it. Maybe you should try to post on the Crash Logger page, and invite some commenters over? A suggestion, you can 'Edit' (found on the bottom bar of each of your posts) your original post by adding the spoiler tags before and after your load order in order to make that post a bit easier to display, I just do not know if there is a time limit for editing.

I have never had blocking change my FOV either, and I usually use first person when in combat, which is why I suggested checking hotkeys. Some mods have begun placing a LOT of hotkeys which conflict with other mods. -
The settings tab in Vortex for 'Interface' will allow you to prevent installing on d/l and enabling upon install, among other things.

Use the 'spoiler' tag to copy and paste your crash log in this thread. The third icon from the left, with the blue and green highlights in it, is the one to post spoilers. 0r you could use the tag spoiler (in square brackets) at the front and /spoiler(again in square brackets) at the end. I like the tool, it limits my frequent misspellings.

No shame intended - now you know! That information can be easy to miss, especially if there is a long list of dependencies. There is also a mod author or two that have posted instructions on how to swap their NPC bodies out for the default versions. Try a widenet internet search for Skyrim SE NPC body swap, or something similar. Got this farther down in the search results - ( https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/articles/2397 ). If this is not enough, try searching for yourself, I use Brave search, and other engines will show different results, different orders. 3ba bodies will need some additional files from your default body location, .tri files, if I recall correctly.

You need to also post the game version and SKSE version you are using to get much help. There is also a crash logger ( https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/59818 ) that might help you with deciding exactly what is going on at the crash. Use the 'requirements' tab on that page to locate help in reading the logger files.

OP - re AFK mods - there is a 'download' tab at the top of the home page - from there, you must select the Skyrim SE mods (which shows no files), then you must click on the mod type you are looking for. It is not very intuitive for me, either. Reminder - AFK only supports the latest version of Skyrim SE/AE, so if it is an SKSE dependent mod, it can cause trouble with earlier versions of SE, or break other related SKSE mods. -
You need to change Toccata's body to one that supports physics. You can try to copy the default files for the meshes and textures for the female player body (can cause skin color mismatches), or you can look at one of these files: ( https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/37765 ) - can modify more follower mods or ( https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/68273 ) - only for Toccata BTW - these links can be found in the 'Requirements' tab on Toccata's page. That tab can be used to 'scout' modifications of the base mod.

Which mesh was missing, or did you not update the hands in BodySlide?

OP - you do know the site for the current versions of Arthmoor's mods (afkmods)? Re xEdit - simply load your entire LO and right-click on any file name in the left panel. Select 'Apply Filter to Show Conflicts'. It will take a while, more mods->more time. My machine (3800x, 64 gb mem, game on SSD) can take 25-35 min or so, but with over 1000 plugins in the install. When complete, you will see all mods that have conflicts, with color codes that show which ones 'win' the conflicts. Just expand each one and scroll through. In my experience, I look more for NPC conflicts, and any landscape conflicts I did not cause with a separate mod, like Realistic Water Two. The farther down the list you go, the fewer red (overwritten) conflicts you should see. For example, your merged/bashed patches should show that they are only overwriting other mods (and hopefully not too much of each other) I am sure that there are many here with much better knowledge, and can lead you to information on how to interpret the output. -

Sorry, I guess it is not updated to use the latest Address Library ( https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/32444 ) then? A 'hail Mary' approach - have you double-checked to make sure that all of your mods by Arthmoor are updated to the latest for your version of Skyrim, and the matching USSEP? Have you loaded up your current LO in SSEEdit (xEdit) and checked it for conflicts? There might be one or two that are not covered by your merge and bashed patch. I don't know what the SSE-Merged file is, maybe you should back up this file and your bashed patch, and re-do them? A small error in either might make for big problems, especially if you didn't clean your masters until after you made them. I assume that this might be a LOT of work. Immersive Citizens-AI Overhaul has caused problems for me in the past, so I cut it from my LO quite some time ago. Have you searched for a discussion that covers problems with it and other mods? -
Do you get to the Cloud District very often?

Or, you could just d/l the mod that allows you to cook w/fire spells, and remove the crime reporting (and make him cowardly) from Nazeem, and just wait a bit to roast your leeks when he steps over them. Nothing but an accident.
