Pinned post on Special Edition Discussion - How to Permanently Block AE from Deploying ( https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/11022483-how-to-permanently-block-ae-from-ever-deploying-onto-ones-system/ )
-
Try a widenet search for blocking skyrim se updates, or skyrim se steam appmanifest, and see if you find the information, or search the forum for appmanifest. It's not hard to find, and once you do, just right-click on it, click on properties, and look at the bottom of the box, where it says "Attributes". Read-only is one of the boxes. Once you do this, you will have to un-check it to d/l updates.
-
Here's the words you will see - be patient... SKSE is not updated yet for the new version 1.6.629. Just keep monitoring, like myself and everyone else. Just focus on the "Current Anniversary Edition" line, and d/l from the link immediately to its right.

New Updated Breaking Mods - I fixed Mine w/ a backup
7531Leonidas replied to Dreven7's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim SE
There is a method that needs you to set the appmanifest file (in the base steamapps folder?) to read-only. That way, it won't update even if you click accidentally on the Steam launcher for Skyrim. Look it up, just to be sure exactly where the file is found. -
A little tip - make a copy of the Skyrim .exe as soon as it updates to help insure against update mistakes. I usually just add the version number (SkyrimSE_1_6_353.exe) to the name. Saves trying to use the Steam download depot to fix an unintended update. Two ways to stop updates - set the game to only update on game launch, then when you want to play, start Steam, then start the game via SKSE launcher -and- set the current appmanifest file (I THINK it is the one in the base steamapps folder) to read only. Look it up, to be sure you are doing it right.
-
Clarifying - I had my game set to only update on launch via Steam, I just wanted to know what the update was about/for... am still playing 1.6.353 for now. Wouldn't you know I finally moved to AE on the 9th of this month!

Saw this notification in the Steam app when I opened it. Tried to search for information, got nothing. Anyone with any insight? (I cleaned the game files before starting this playthrough, maybe it is seeing the change, and wants to 'fix' it?)

My Logitech mouse was very bad for double-clicking with no input, so yours may be as well, and the second click forces the routine for a bad/errant click or input?

The 'cave' entrance was covered up by terrain/landscape textures, and there was an 'invisible' letter, or note at the base of the terrain. Didn't think to console the textures for ID. Loaded up everything in xEdit, no real apparent conflicts, then uninstalled/reinstalled it and another AP module. The mod site hasn't responded to ppl for about a year, so I'm asking here. Anyone else had this problem? Fix it?
-
That might well do it, ITMs are duplicate records to a master file. Search out SSEEditQuickAutoClean. In Vortex, it was as simple as pointing it to a second copy of the SSEEdit exe labeled as SSEEditQuickAutoClean, once you made it in the SSEEdit folder. Double check me, it's been a long time since I set it up.
-
What mod manager do you use? You may have accidentally "doubled up" instead of overwriting. If you know how to use xEdit (SSEEdit), you could load up your whole LO, check for conflicts, and see what is interacting in the cell(s) you were in.

CTD after installation of new graphics card
7531Leonidas replied to UltravioletVal19's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim SE
Two more guesses - Have you checked to make sure that your card is fully seated and locked down? I had some weirdness some years ago, and it turned out that one of the locking dogs wasn't fully seated. Your 6800 I am sure is a good bit heavier than the 580. If you pull it, you should probably blast out your machine w/a can of air before you reseat it (stray dust/debris is my second guess). Make sure you have pressed down firmly while you are locking it in. The locking dogs on mine were so tight, I had to really push down to give them room to swing shut. -
Use the console to check your status with whatever the children's faction is, or the adoption quest/quests stages? Add either My Home Is Your Home or Hearthfire Multiple Adoptions, and get/use the bless home spell, it might reset something once you use it on a home.

CTD after installation of new graphics card
7531Leonidas replied to UltravioletVal19's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim SE
Just a quick look, you only have 16 GB on your machine, and your 6800 has 8, doesn't it? You have a lot of visual stuff going on, and the new card is probably doing much more than the old one. I saw notes on shaders and textures in your crash logs, so maybe it is just that your machine is having to swap out too much for the graphics. Maybe you should try to back off on your card's settings for Skyrim, run around in game for awhile, and see if it helps. You can use Skyrim Performance Monitor to track a lot of info on how your CPU, GPU, and memory are used in the game. I went crazy on detail w/Dyndolod in my last set-up, and with a lot of texture/landscape mods, and it is not unusual for my machine to have 16+ GB stored in the system RAM after just an hour or so (I splurged on 64 GB when I built my system), as recorded by the performance monitor. You may just be forcing your system to swap cached memory too much, and stuff gets jammed up/lost in the process. I hope that someone better versed in the crash logs comes along to help. -
Skyrim SE - Mod Detectives Thread
7531Leonidas replied to DoctorKaizeld's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim SE
How long ago was it, fluffy? It wasn't one of those recent combat animation mods, where you could make combination moves? Just browsed through the combat category, it wasn't Engarde, was it? -
showler, you got it in one, or at least part of it. I had a (partially) incompatible crash logger, but managed to get some of a crash log by changing a setting to verbose logging. Once I got that, I found that the parallax shaders did not work, even though they were listed as for 1.6+. I also had Fire Hurts installed, thinking that it was compatible, but it wasn't. I had two (or three?) other dll mods that I hadn't installed the updates after all. The scripts were installed, I had just zipped them up in a folder, but it was the 'data' folder, with the scripts inside. Got it all sorted, once I zipped up the 'scripts' folder for use in Vortex. tbird - you should go to the Net Script Framework page, click on the "Requirements", and look at your load order in MO2 to see which mods you have installed that are dependent upon NSF, and get rid of them. Or, you could really jump the shark and try the rollback/regression to SE. I forget what it is really called, sorry (found it - !!DOWNGRADE!!). I got tired of avoiding the update to 1.6, and trying to figure out which other mod updates wouldn't break my game.

enb registers on start, Beth splash screen comes up, then freeze w/the spinner in the bottom right corner. I am pretty sure that SKSE isn't loading properly, b/c: EngineFixes.log is written (blank) skse64_loader.log is written, reads that it is launching skse64_steam_loader.log has this line at the end: couldn't find __telemetry_main_invoke_trigger skse64.log doesn't get written, nor any other log for SKSE mods. I should have wiped it all, and started from scratch, but I didn't , and am trying to muddle my way through. Anyone have an idea what the problem might be for the telemetry_main error statement? Or is this a red herring, and I need to look elsewhere?

Hey, Fluffy - maybe TK HitStop https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/14904 ? The AE version - https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/66155 Or something based on OnHit Animation Framework? https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/42574 https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/69298 -
follower stuck running in pace (help)
7531Leonidas replied to CGIModels's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim SE
Well in my case, I have used NFF exclusively since it came out. Most often, the problem seems to occur after I sleep in a bed, and one or more of my followers is/may be in the middle of an idle. I have tried Unrelenting Force, movetoplayer, disable/enable, and teleport for those followers who had it available as part of their package... Only remedy was to find a save from before the behavior began, deleting all saves after (incl. quick- and autosaves) and reload. -
follower stuck running in pace (help)

I have had this happen fairly often, too. It is sometimes followed by that NPC in my gang just wandering around, floating above the ground. I hope that someone has a good answer. -
What showler said, it may be that you have a mouse cable/connector failing, or the cable was kinked, disrupting its insulation.

Black screen after reloading save/death
7531Leonidas replied to BlackChronos's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim SE
If you use a mod manager, it may not have 'cleaned up' all that it needed to, or something got installed as loose files. Check for the files from the uninstalled mods in your data folder, and/or your mod manager's staging folder. You may need to unpack the original mod d/l to compare. -
Origin and Mass Effect Legendary
7531Leonidas replied to greenhorn001's topic in Mass Effect's Legendary Edition
I do not have any of these games, but have you: 1. Cleaned up your hard drive, using the disk cleanup when right-clicking on your hard drive icon? 2. Defragged your hard drive after all of these changes (and the possible cleanup). (extra files and very scattered install files can can slow a lot of stuff down - I assume that you do not have a SSD in your machine) 3. Used a can of compressed air to clean out the vents of your laptop? 4. Made sure that your graphics settings in the game are as low as you can stand them.- 1 reply
