Well, this is quite a morbid topic... Nexus Mods turns 20 in 2021 and we're not planning on going anywhere soon. As it stands we're one of the longest lived modding sites around and (I believe) we're one of few serious modding sites that's independent ("for the community, by the community"). As others have pointed out, we pay the bills through a mix of advertising revenue and Premium memberships. Although with the prevalence of adblockers, Premium memberships are becoming more important. We are currently able to cover all the running costs of the site and we're even able to give a substantial sum of money to the mod authors who really are the lifeblood of the community: https://www.nexusmods.com/about/donation-points/ - We've paid out over half a million dollars through the rewards program and have been able to almost triple how much we put into the system each month. So, as you can see, we do what we can to reinvest in the community. :)
