  1. @danburite2: The reason for a new Nexus is because of the popularity this game is getting. Morrowind and Oblivion didn't have near as much attention when they were first released, and back then it was okay to have both on the same site, but now - now it would be quite confusing to have three games on one site, especially when one of them will receive many times the amount of attention than the two others ever had.

The "Latest Files" would be filled to the brim with Skyrim mods, while Morrowind and Oblivion mods would be left unseen. Making a new Nexus for Skyrim is definitely the right way to go. So no, it is in no way an unnecessary site!

And why didn't Dragon Age II get it's own Nexus? Well, there are no specific SDK for that game! You use the same SDK as Dragon Age, and based on the amount of mods made with that SDK there is really no need for a new Nexus for DA II.

Dragon Age Nexus has a total of 2.500 mods, while TESNexus has 26.000 .

And about confusing people, as I stated before, it would be more confusing if all three games were on the same site. And beside that, the skins on the sites tells the user exactly which games that site is for. TES Nexus has a Morrowind and an Oblivion image, while Skyrim Nexus has a Skyrim image. ;)

  2. First off, Blanket Statements such as "Reviews are usually paid off" are not true at all and at best only true in a few cases, because any source that actually gets caught being paid off is then completely ignored by the public.

As for being buggy.... that depends a lot on the platform, and individual....DA2 for example is after installed and updated was not buggy for me at all.

It happens more often than you think. People need to pull out their heads out of the sand, especially Bethesda fans. Todd lied before with Oblivion. Though I must say I'm pretty stoked for this game :D.

I think you should get your hand out of the sand as well.

Todd didn't lie - most of what he talked about was in the game when he was talking about it. But he spoke too early... (Something they definitely didn't do with Skyrim)

Sutch was lost, either to a data loss or because of disk space issues, voice files were scrapped because of disk space issues, and A.I was "dumbified" because of the silly, silly consoles. (They didn't know anything about the specs for the consoles until a few months before release.)

But yes, it happens that reviews are paid off. ;)

I guess you're right (though the same was with fallout 3's 200 endings, but that was from a dubious source). Oblivion would have been SO much better if consoles weren't involved. It's only playable with mods for me. Didn't they need to start over with Oblivion or something?

I think they had to start over with a few aspects at least, like the A.I :/

@immagikman: Todd is the Game Director and Executive Producer of Skyrim. :P

  4. Don't worry, gunslinger - We haven't lost all great Morrowind modders to Oblivion, neither all great Oblivion modders to Fallout 3, neither all great Fallout 3 modders to New Vegas. ;)

There will always be projects going on for all those games! :)

  5. Awesome countdown, Dark0ne! :) (<- This is a smiley)

I really can't wait for Skyrim, and until then I will be reading Lord of Souls and playing RAGE, but as you said, it's going to go very, very slowly. ;)

By the way, emotes are all messy as you probably noticed in your own post further down. :P (<- This is tongue^^)

  6. Just to clear things up here:

Those 50 achievements are the standard ones that you can see from the get-go. BUT, every game I've ever played on the Xbox have had "Unknown achievements"... ;)

  7. Someone mentioned on the previous page that there were only 20 dragons, but I'm pretty sure that there's way more than that. I remember reading some places that there was virtually an unlimited amount of them (though they may have been exaggerating that) and another time that there were about 80. Thinking about the number of shouts there are, there should be more dragons than 20.

Someone also mentioned there being no way to naturally increase speed. I'm not sure if it was confirmed, but someone here mentioned that stamina might affect it (as well as jump height), but that was a while back.

Just clearing some stuff up for ya'll.

Was it confirmed yet that cooking has it's own animations?

I think they were talking about Dragon Shouts, not dragons. ;)

  8. :ohdear: I... need... more... time!! :psyduck:

If it wasn't for the fact that I got nothing to do at all this week - not school, not work, not ANYTHING - I would never be able to finish this!^^

What if we just go by the number on the sites? It's not updating, I know^^

  9. Well, in the case of graphics, it's all going the right way, but in regard of storytelling and originality, I'd say it's going down steadily. Some developers pick graphics before storytelling and originality, which, in my opinion is bad.

BUT, this is a discussion for another time, in another place, so let's call it the day. ;)

    Only six weeks left! :D

  10. What a silly species we are...

We get a game, then one year later, a game that is exactly the same comes out, and we go all "WOOOW!", then another year passes and another one that is completely the same comes out and we're like "AAAWESOME!" (And in the meantime, it has been released tons of games that are exactly the same, but with another title on the cover...)

Then, an original game with tons of new features comes out, and we go like "Meh, probably buggy..." - It seems we are afraid of change, afraid of challenges, and simply want to play the same thing over and over again.

There was a time down the lane when we demanded challenging games, but that time is almost entirely over, and only a few of us are left. I am of the new generation, but I consider myself as part of the old.

A wise man said in 1954; "The world is changing..." - let's hope it will go back to what it once was again. ;)

Vix, an apparently quite smart person, said on The Skyrim Blog:

The Neilsen ratings system doesn't measure top 20 games for their value, variety, or quality it's for their broad initial appeal to consumers (all consumers) in general. This basically tells us what games are mainstream.

    /Rant

Not much time left now! :D

  11. I don't know if this was discussed and I just missed it but are giants going to be sentient creatures you can interact/converse with? Or will they just be creatures you randomly come across with the mammoths, void of interaction, save for the butt whooping received when daring to poke one with your sword?

As seen in the demo, you can actually talk with them. :)

  12. Pete, can you reccomend a good wireless Xbox controller for the PC? I have a PC that will run this at more than max settings with ease but Im used to Keyboard / Mouse combo, never tried using game controllers before.

I don't think Pete answers questions on this thread. ^^

  13. Im only following one Link on TESNexus, and I was responding to the email I got about a post in that Link, appologies if the forum software mis-assigned the post I made.

It was talked about, so no worries. ;)

(At the rate this thread goes, there's no way to keep up to date without the email notifications, and even then it's hard...)

  14. Did anyone catch that this preview was run on a maxed out PC?

The rig that we were allowed to play the demo on was a fairly stellar piece of computer, and odds are, a lot of people are not going to have something with that much power sitting on their desks. For those who do, the game should run like a dream, but the others will most likely face compatibility issues and low graphics settings until they give in and decide to upgrade. The exact system specs haven’t been released by Bethesda yet, but I would count on needing some fairly expensive machinery to be able to run this game anywhere near high graphics settings. For those who outright can’t run the game, that means either buying it for a console (which will have all the same DLC, but no mod support for obvious reasons), or upgrading their rig. Those who can’t afford a new PC, or a console, will be SOL unfortunately

Happy I made my work buy me a new PC.

Fairly stellar piece of computer? How did he know that? By looking at the casing? ;D

(I highly doubt they were allowed to minimize Skyrim at all...)

And he continues by saying those who don't have a high-end computer should get it on the console... Does he have any idea about computers at all? ;D

A console is the same as a low-end computer...
