It's sad that the friends feature is gone. I was looking for a way to get a cached version of my list of friends but I haven't found one. The Wayback Machine didn't archive it and the archived versions of my profile from search engines were too recent. Then I copied the link of the friends tab from the Wayback Machine version of my profile, isolated the original Nexus link, opened it a new tab and the list of friends is still there!

https://www.nexusmods.com/users/287627?tab=friends

All you need to do is putting ?tab=friends at the end of your profile link to access your list of friends. This makes the process of adding them back as followers easier.

Edit:

I made a backup of my list of friends just in case.

Thank you, I used an extension to capture the lot as a screenshot.

I'll be poster #134 to say I want the ability to search comments on mod pages back lol hope you get that done soon.

The full editor on the forum was much better for editing sticky comments, like FAQs or news. I also miss being able to properly multiquote comments on the forum page of mod comments. More power is better!

Nice.  It worked.  Thank you.

They have said that the search feature will be coming to the mod comments pages in early 2024.  You may not like the format that comes with it though.  If you go to a collections page (the page of any specific collection), look at the comments section under the collection...  That is the system that the mod comments will be converting to.  It does include a search feature, but from what I can see (I may be wrong) it has a more limited editor than even the current one for comments.  Perhaps they will adjust the parameters on it before implementation, I have no idea.  Currently, it seems to default to all threads collapsed, which will be annoying to me, if there is no option to change it, but I am sure some people will like it better.

I gotta be honest here. I don't understand this new forum at all.

( Yes I live in a cave, I'm old and don't talk in any other forums for over a decade now, so it's probably completely my fault )

Is there a way to get from Browsing a Mod to the forum location of the game that said Mod utilizes?

Just a rundown of what I have to do to get to the new forum while browsing Mods here:

1- click community drop down menu

2- click forum

3- scroll to the very bottom of the page

4- click corresponding letter on the 'Game-specific Forums' section

5- scroll down until I find the correct Game

6- click on 'Morrowind Technical Support' option

7- find out that I am now in the 'Old Forum'

8- click on the red 'Migration to new forum pages is in process' banner at top of screen

9- click on the 'here' button

10- find the correct Game again

11- See a bunch of disconnected comments mashed together in some kinda of frankenstien's monster theme

12- Click on discussions tab located towards top of screen

13- Find a place that looks like an acutal forum again

14- Looks in vain for a start a new topic button... but kinda thinks no one will see it here anyway because of how convoluted it is to get here. And apparently there is only 9 members now... What does that even mean? This old man has no clue.

This seems overly complicated to get to the forums discussing the Mods you are currently using. This is a Mod site. Shouldn't the Mod section of the forum be the most accessible?.. The easiest to find?

Once again this is probably just me missing something, or maybe this is something that is still being worked on. Forgive me if this was already discussed earlier. I can't seem to find a search feature to narrow down the 27 pages of comments here either. And this Where's Waldo hunt has got me knackered out.

Also when you do search something the 'keywords' are greyed out making them blend in to the background, effectively making them invisible unless you highlight them with your mouse.

Yeah, it is... really messy to navigate.  I am not even trying.  Hopefully they get it sorted out, eventually.

If you are wanting to see and participate in discussions about/under a specific mod, why not go to the comments (Posts tab) under that specific mod?  No need to mess with the forums at all really.  Yeah, there is no search feature (yet), but I find it a friendlier setup, personally. (Which is why my over 6k posts, before the count went away, were mostly all on the mods side.)  I am an old-timer as well.  Seems like change hits harder the more years you have been around.  (*Looks at her desktop, configured to look and act like the Win 98 desktop.*)

Forum confusion chapter 3875656

Or some such. 🙂 What is the difference between a club and a community again? Is there any difference? When you are not a member of a game community and you go to the game community page, there is a button "Join Community". I clicked it. Great! But now there's a button "Leave Club" and that game community is listed under "Clubs" on my Browse -> Top Games page. Which would suggest that "community" is the same as a "club". Then why different labels? Confused! 😵‍💫

Next confusion. Every time I try to nose about the forum I get confused... No, really.

It seems that only very few games have working forum links from the mods site since there are only - brace for it! - 20 game communitues out of 2583 games hosted on Nexus. All other 2563 games have defective links under Community -> Forum which is the ONLY link from the mod side to the forum side. What's going on there? Confused. 😵‍💫 (This is now my top used emoji. Sheesh.)

Worked a treat for me too.

I'd already kudoed you in the past so the best I can offer is 1000 internets (whatever the heck they are ... maybe they're tasty).

Nice sleuthing!!

Now that we know that the friends functionality and data is still there, something should be done with it.  Either migrate it as followers or at least provide to users a legacy list that will remain accessible.

BTW, the friends tab is still functional.  But probably no point to it, as I am sure that they will kill it at some point.
