Find out which mods are installed without Vortex
HeyYou replied to jack63ss's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
I thought there was a way to list active plugins for a save game in vortex, but, I am not finding it now. Wrye Bash will tell ya though. -
I'm thinkin' its your CPU holding you back. It would be interesting to see load across individual cores. Skyrim can't really take advantage of more than two, and it barely manages that. That 3070 is barely breaking a sweat with Skyrim. :D

Morrowind. :) Nothing like walking into a room, and everything EXPLODING and bouncing around everywhere. :)

We do have some pretty bright individuals here in the US. However, taken collectively, we got nothin' on a box o' rocks..... Politicians have no concept of reality. (at least, I would like to think that's their excuse.) They have no clue what it is like to live as most folks in the US do. Their jobs are secure, their future is secure, they have some of the best benefits in the world... and some of the easiest working hours of any job. They get to legislate their own pay raises and benefits..... They are owned by their campaign contributors, to the point that if they want to get re-elected, they do what the rich special interests want, NOT what their constituents actually want/need. This is what the Citizens United (misnomer) decision got us.

I mostly play Beth games. :) I am actually kinda sorta looking forward to Starfield...... Bear in mind, I am not buying it on release day, I'll give it a couple weeks/months, and see what release day bugs need to get ironed out first. :)

I think for something like a flight sim game, physics are EXTREMELY important. However, for first person shooters, maybe not so much. :)

I don't think consoles load mods the same way as pc..... considering there is no app data folder..... Consoles didn't seem to have that problem, just PC players.

This is what I thought, but I'm being told otherwise. I could see Bethesda making a mistake that they had to scramble to fix, but issuing an update without it being compatible with existing mods seems unlikely. The only conclusion I can come to is that the 2019 update was not compatible with the 0.94 header version, which was switched to 0.95 in 2017, and that the numbers are just getting confused. People with the 2019 update would not be able to use mods that hadn't been updated in two years without going through the process of updating the header themselves, and people who used older version of the game would not be able to use the newest mods with the 1.00 header, but there is no conceivable way that ALL the current mods would have been broken by the update. Beth made the change that broke stuff, Modders fixed it. Beth never said boo about it.

It would have make sense if only 1 or 2 person fail to install a single mod for the last 30 days. But when too many fail to do so, it tells a lot that the single mod requires author immediate attention. With 2023 upcoming update, I feel like this features would help a lot. I would point out, that there are over 20 MILLION members here...... So, a handful per day having any issue, really shouldn't come as a surprise. Also, there are WAY too many factors that can contribute to "You mod doesn't work for me." And yes, it is usually an incompatible mod combination, or an error on the part of the installer.

There were some version issues, but, I think the problem was newer mod versions with older game versions. I don't recall ever having any issues with version checking being the cause..... Although, I had to reinstall my games in late '19, as my old computer died.....

Yeah, Starbuck being female really surprised me. And then we have John Clark, from the various Jack Ryan movies. (Tom Clancy) He can't seem to make up his mind what race he is.......

Essentially, Beth changed the plugins.txt file, so that activated mods need an asterisk in front of them..... So yeah, it broke EVERY mod. Of course, it didn't take long for folks to figure that out, and the mod managers were updated within days to fix it. It's been a while ago though... I don't remember just when that was. There was discussion about it in the mod authors forum, which I no longer have access to, thanks to a site update...... (even though I had been in there for a decade or so....) That said, I don't see beth screwing things up too badly. There may be some hoop jumping involved after the update, but, I'll be happy to sit back, relax, and wait to see what really happens. :D

I would point out, that a few versions ago, Beth did indeed break EVERY mod out there, by changing the way the were activated in the plugins.txt file......

Ah, I did not know that. :) Thanks.

The download with manager button is for use if you have Nexus Mod Manager, or Vortex installed, and managing your mods. There may be others, but, I have no experience with them.

I play pretty close to how I am in real life..... Of course, there are some things I do in-game, that I wouldn't in real life..... Like, kill the guy in rorikstead that beats his girls..... then adopt one of them..... I also kill the lady at the orphanage...... again, not something I would do in real life. :) (well, ok, maybe the guy that beats his girls.....) I guess I play pretty fast and loose with morals in-game..... I try and avoid the thieves guild, I did play thru the DB questline a time or two..... And, I tend to kill the thalmor wherever I encounter them out on the roads. And I sneak attack from behind as well. :) With a crossbow, from a distance. I can usually kill two or three of 'em before they finally find me...... Ok, I am an evil man. I'll freely admit it. :D

4 years away... What did I miss?
HeyYou replied to SandMouseAnarchy's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
There are likely MANY new epic mods since you left. :) And some that were around have been updated. Check out most downloaded, or most endorsed mods. :) There are a LOT of choices...... -
I don't see a pic.

hello a question do you know how to create mod packs They are called "Collections" here, and are supported by Vortex, Nexus own mod manager. Probably not quite what you are looking for, but, 'mod packs' like you are talking about are not a popular topic among mod authors.

Is the older version still archived here???? I would think the author would have access to that though......
-
I always thought that the separation of different file types into separate archives was more for organization, than anything else. After all, the game will load any properly named archive, and integrate its folder structure into the game.... so I would think, that so long as the file paths were correct, (within the archive itself.) it really wouldn't matter what the archive name was, just so long as it gets loaded. I see a fair few mods with only one archive, that includes meshes, textures, and various other things....

Go to the in-game gameplay menu, and see what difficulty is set on. If it isn't currently survival, knock it down one level, go back into the game, and see if the behavior is gone. If it is, set the difficulty where you want it, see if it still works the way it should.

Maybe windows didn't really believe you when you deleted a few folders. :) Windows can be cranky like that on occasion.- 10 replies
