  1. Someone's somehow gotten hold of the "PlayStation The Official Magazine", and here it is, some awesome new info! :D

I have the magazine, there are:

New Dragon Shouts: "Yol Toor"- Fire breath, "Iiz Slen" - Ice crystals, "Strun Bah Qo" - Lightning Storm. There are two others mentioned, not in the Dragon Language, Slow Time and Whirlwhind Spirit (Move quickly in one direction)

    Dragons:

If injured enough, they can't fly

    randomly appear

    battles are unscripted

    Dual weilding:

Weapon and Shield, Weapon and Torch (Yes, Torch as a weapon), Weapon and Weapon, Spell and Weapon, Spell and Spell, Two Handed Weapon

    Random Quests:

Were inspired by Fallout 3's random encounters

Didn't like how fake some quests in Oblivion felt, Bethesda wants to make it feel mor real with these

    Crafting:

    13 different types of ore

    Dialogue:

60,000 line of recorded dialogue, more voice actors

    The Game World:

Each city has a unique economy, which the player can sabatoge

Guards no longer as powerful as they could end up being as Oblivion

9 seperate bounties, one for each hold, wanted criminal in one place; "Who's that" in another. :celebration:

    Traveling:

Horses - More detailed then Oblivion, actually handle like horses

Fast Travel - Oblivion and Morrowind style

    Skills:

Hand to Hand has been removed

    Factions:

Three confirmed so far: Thieves' Guild, College of Winterhold (Mage) and Compainions (Warrior), their storylines are no longer unaware of other events in the world.

  2. Could whoever gets hold of that magazine PM me with the info? (or a link if you make a thread about it?), as I'm not sure I can get hold of it here. :/

EDIT: Oh, and while I'm at it...

New info! (I'll be putting it in the OP tomorrow... tired..... going.. to.. bed... now... zzzz )

  3. Going off topic here but...

And the empire is going through a dark age, so they will most likely decline and not advance. Pretty much like the dark ages after the Roman Empire of real life. :)

Your statement is historically inaccurate. That the dark ages saw no advancement at all is a myth and the Arabic world was the leader in technology during the Roman era.

Sorry. Just needed to point that out.

Forgive me, I meant in European countries. :)

And no, the Dark Ages of Europe wasn't long, but it did happen.

  4. Gotta love the Version Summary for 1.6.4^^

    Bug Fixes:

    • Attempted fix for CPU usage issue on single- and multiplayer.

    New Bugs:

    • Sometimes when you open a world you can get stuck for a short time (about 0.10 seconds).
    • Entering and exiting the nether in SMP resets health bar, but not health.
    • Dropped tools, once picked up, disappear after first use
. Also if you die your tools can suffer a similar fate. If you shift-transfer such a dropped tool into a chest and back in your inventory, it's like a new-crafted tool without uses.
    • Holding a map in a boat can cause the arms to be misplaced. This can be fixed by exiting the boat, and opening your inventory. [7]
    • If a player sleeps in a bed, sometimes the bed is listed as occupied (even though it isn't) and, upon logging out, there is a NullPointerException and the player's .dat file is corrupted. There is an end of stream error when the player tries to log back in and their .dat file needs to be restored from a backup. This can be fixed by changing the sleeping value in the player's .dat file from 1 back to 0; this solves the issue and the player can then log back in. (You have to un-gzip the .dat file first, otherwise the file just looks like gibberish)
    • If a player crashes in the nether in SMP, some times when they reconnect, they spawn on top of the Nether. The only way back is death, or using teleportation.
    • Sometimes freezes most water into ice regardless of if its in a snow biome or not.
    • CPU issue fix is still failing, same loop as 1.6.3
    • Sometimes blocks will fail to render, creating massive holes on the ground and walls, allowing the player to see caves and dungeons under the map. [8] [9]
    • Achievement display is sometimes off-panel. [10]
    • Updating of lighting due to Torches and other player instigated sources seems to be even worse.
    • Underground or otherwise enclosed Rail corners can cause you to clip through wall and lose health.
    • Minecarts colliding on the same track will pass through each other or come to a dead stop rather than pushing.

[*] Exiting a Minecart or moving from one Minecart to another will bump the original Minecart and make it move.[*] Fire does not show up on a map item.[*] Fire sticks around much longer on blocks it can't burn.[*] Cobweb now acting like a solid block, player can pass through it, but he/she will get damaged.[*] You are able to travel down through a "closed" Trapdoor/Hatch (Under certain circumstances).[*] If the player is crouched while saving, he/she will then (when loading the world) spawn an additional 1.62 meters higher, and visibly fall to the ground (unhurt). However, if this occurs while standing under a solid block (such as a low ceiling), then the player will suffer 0.5 hearts of damage from clipping into the block temporarily ("suffocation"). Warning, also occasionally happens even when not crouched! (See Bug Report.)[*] When boats are submerged, they do not float back to surface. [13][*] All TNT-entities stay client-side after exploding, until reconnection. (New bug because before just random ones stayed)[*] Shift-clicking to transfer items to/from chests, dispensers and storage minecarts can result in the game crashing if the items' destination would become full, or if there is no room for the new item. [14][*] Can't move and can mostly only see sky and sea when server.properties "view-distance" is set above 5. Note that the default is 10.[*] Hostile mobs sometimes spawn when using a bed even in a well lit room sealed off from outside environments, this appears to possibly be related to the lighting bug mentioned above (this can be an old bug: see [15]). Double doors also cause this to happen, the game somehow ignores one of the doors allowing mobs to spawn inside.[*] Craftable maps sometimes don't display the correct name, become blank or have gaps.[*] When crafting an item, shift clicking may cause different items to be created if the elimination of resources would create a situation in which that item can be crafted. For example, having 1 stone in the top left and two in the top middle and top right, along with two sticks in the middle and bottom middle, shift clicking will create a pick and a hoe.[*] When riding a boat with a map out, the player sometimes dies for no apparent reason.[*] Light bugs found in 1.6.2 can now occur in old generated chunks (not only in those generated in 1.6.x). Some screens here.[*] When climbing a ladder in a 1x2 shaft, under certain circumstances, it is impossible to target a block opposite of the ladder. The cursor will repeatedly alternate between the wall and another block, usually the ladder.[*] The corruption of world when running out of memory fix does not always work.[*] When entering and leaving nether life is shown incorrectly as full.[*] Maps may cause crashes or instability on multiplayer servers. When maps are used the server usually crashes in the same way: CPU usage goes to 100% and short after the server kicks all player and stops responding. <-- When I set view distance to 5, I could not open a chest with a map out. Changing it back to 10 fixed this bug.[*] Mushrooms can spread through walls.[*] Lava, in SMP, anywhere near wood, even if blocked by glass, will set the wood on fire. Have observed wood catching alight that is 10 blocks away from the lava source.[*] Maps sometimes stop updating the player position.[*] Spawn locations do not change when you sleep. (?)

aaand, pretty much the same with 1.6.5

    Changes:

    • Advanced OpenGL re-added.
    • Framerate cap can now be changed, with toggles of 40 FPS, 90 FPS and 200 FPS.
    • Improvements for slow and old computers.
    • Shift-clicking an item in the crafting window now only moves the crafted item into the player's inventory.

    Bug Fixes:

    • Dropped equipment no longer breaks on the first use, but used equipment will break on the first use with the new update.
    • Objects will now be pushed out if they are within a block.
    • Lighting acts normal again when placing/removing torches.
    • The game no longer crashes when shift-clicking to put items in a chest that is already full and vice versa.
    • Fixed CPU issue on multiplayer.
    • Saving while crouched no longer consistently teleports the player into blocks above or below when loading the save.
    • Exiting a Minecart or moving from one Minecart to another will no longer bump the original Minecart and make it move.
    • Fixed the achievements window rendering some graphics outside the clip window.
    • Fixed the players health appearing to be full when entering/exiting the nether.

    New Bugs:

    • Memory leaks.
    • Multiple portals aren't working correctly in SMP.
    • Sometimes you cannot pick up items dropped onto cobblestone.
    • Framerate limit can not be removed, but setting Framerate limit at 90 or 200 FPS allows FPS to exceed this.[1]
    • Setting Framerate Limit to 40 FPS may increase CPU usage on some computers.[2]
    • Sometimes when trying to lie down on the bed, it fails and removes one half of the heart in MP.
    • Shadows sometimes do not update.
    • Sometimes blocks and items respawn in SMP, but you don't get anything from them anymore, you get lots of lag on reconnect.
    • Difficulty may revert to "Easy" when you load a save, at least when you had it previously on "Peaceful."
    • Sometimes objects clone after death [3] (On the video porkshops aren't cloned, they are just picked up and didn't disappear. In fact, they have been cloned only once - after death).
    • Tools that have been used, dropped, then picked up, and thus display a health bar, will break when used not only when used properly but also if used to activate a lever or other such device.
    • Respawn after death results in being stuck until breaking block below. Does not occur at all spawn points. [4]
    • If you switch from windowed to fullscreen when in a map, the mouse movement will be limited by the screen borders. This can be fixed by switching into your inventory.
    • Beds no longer work in SMP.
    • Setting view-distance=7 (or lower) in server.properties causes part of the map to revert. [5]
    • Sometimes when entering the World from the Nether, the sky will remain red. Only in SMP.
    • fire sometimes can catch wood on fire even if a solid non-flammable block stands between it and the fire
    • Minecarts stopped on E/W powered rail will not bounce off one another, but they will on N/S powered rail.
    • On unlit powered rail as part of a track which terminates at a solid block to the North or to the East, a minecart can be shoved off of the track directly into the block, by a player or by another minecart, as shown in this minecart station

  5. Aah, it would have been awesome if you could have gotten in! ;)

But, I understand that they want press only, as it actually opens up for more people to see their booth, since the press reaches more people. (Though, you would reach 2.2 million people by being in there^^)

eeey, maybe we can get you in as press for The Nexus? :P

  6. yaaaay! :D

    Nice one, Rob! ;)

This will be great for me when Skyrim comes out, and the Viking in me starts working on projects that can finally be finalized since I already have lots of resources from the vanilla game! :P

I recommend everyone to use 7zip to compress their files, as it compresses better than WinRAR, ALZip and ZipGenius! With big files, the size difference is quite a lot!

  7. yeah i finally got around to playing morrowind again (ah the nostalgia) and i totall6y hope skyrim armor is as diverse as morrowind, and i hope some morrowind weapons like crossbows and spears, they should have better tech shouldnt they i mean its like 600 years after the dunmer of morrowind where overthrew by the argonians of the black marsh. and there was rather good "mideval" tech there, but i hated being limited to bow, sword, axe or hammer, i wanted to see spears and crossbows, throwing knives and even more weapons since it was a new game,i gotta admit bethesda cut really short on oblivion

It's 200 years the events of Oblivion, and the conquest of Vvardenfell by the Argonians was 60- or so years after that. So, it's 140-150 years after.^^

And the empire is going through a dark age, so they will most likely decline and not advance. Pretty much like the dark ages after the Roman Empire of real life. :)

  8. Dark0ne made a boo-boo!

Buddah, you're the old fart... no, you can't go back to being 42! :hurr:

    Sure he can...

    UPDATE Users
    SET Age = 42
    WHERE Age > 42

    :P

Where can I find the CS for "Real Life"? Is it downloadable??? I could really use some cleaning up.......

Of course you realize that cleaning your esp won't matter much. Mother.esm and Father.esm are probably just as bad off ;)

Is there a mod to fix that??

Yeah, the Unofficial Mother Patch (UMP) and Unofficial Father Patch (UFP) should fix those issues.

  9. From the Swedish GameReactor:

    - There are Chainmail armor in the game.

    - There are hidden caves, hidden ships and secrets in the water.

    - Story of a fight against a bandit: "A good hit led to the enemy bleeding heavily. Eventually he sank down, sits on his knees for a short moment before he falls down."

    - Concerning Magic: "When holding down both triggers, a magician can combine both hands to unleash an extremely powerful spell against his/her opponents, that doesn't just cause serious damage but also make all lose exterior and interior to fly madly"

  10. wereyetis :D

    EDIT:

Am I too much of a fan of Bethsoft if this paragraph gave me good chills?:

The winning mixture of a vast open world and a wealth of choice and customisation means that - genuinely - no two play-throughs are the same.

If Skyrim can nail that again on a bigger, better stage with brighter, better stars, no other RPG will touch it this year. Or the next five. And without wanting readers to dial 118 and ask for a Super-Turbo Hype Ambulance to take us away, everything we've seen of Skyrim so far - indeed everything we've seen of Bethesda so far - points to that happening.

It all just sounds so good! ;D

  11. I went to every other city before I went to the Imperial City actually... by foot. :P

I just starter wandering, doing the roxey's inn quest, and things on the way. No map, just wandering the paths. ;D

And just a heads up on the fan interview:

@gstaffinfection: Just sent over the Skyrim fan interview questions to Todd & Co. Great questions... should have great answers too
  12. I think there may be some new information here, most notably that something named "Wilbur" will be your pet that helps you in fights. Less significantly, the starting town is called Riverwood.

This is that French page we were trying to translate, translated.

That is the Norwegian page that we DID translate. (And I must say my translation is better than that one, as it seems they have been using Google Translate^^)

    ---

    As for the new information:

    - "Throat, one of the places in the game, will require the player to ascend 7,000 steps to reach it’s peak." I am pretty sure the real name of this place is High Hrothgar.^^

    - "Wilbur will be your pet that will help you in fights." - This will most likely be an optional pet, like the ones in Fallout.

So, there's not really anything new apart from the pet, as we already know Riverwood is the first town you arrive in. :)

So, I hope GamingBolt will be better to categorize "new info" during E3. ;)

Can't wait for E3! :D Though I think I will have to skip school so I can keep this thread updated during it. :P
