  1. in morrowind being a dunmer outsider made you more an outsider than any other race. ---edit--- in morrowind nothing was more shunned than a dunmer not born of morrowind. Nords invading from skyrim probably received a warmer welcome then your average outlander dunmer.
  2. Yeah, with the inability to give the Dovahkiin actual personality, playing yourself doesn't work very well.. especially in the first couple scenes. Also, wriggling out of bindings and jumping out of the cart would have to be options for this to be 'true to form' for me anyway. I don't need 'help'. When you head over to the chopping block for just a few seconds you are face to face with that unfriendly legion captain i’d need an option that stated… deliver a stunning blow to the captain’s trachea, grip the hilt on the captain sword with both hands still bound (which is possible), unsheathe her sword, & run her through with said sword. that’s what i’d need to play me realistically, well for starters anyway.
  3. i'd like a small "jinn" (as in japanese for Genie) bottle to carry around with me. like a small magic house in a bottle. haven't seen that yet, nor have i really looked though. and not a port from i dream of genie plz. lol a small but proper abode was what i had in mind. maybe one you could clip onto the back of a belt for show. (i was referring to the bottle here ---edit---) ---edit again--- with a persian theme i think. actual persian & not stylized for tv or movies persian.
  4. i've played every stock race and class in morrowind & oblivion, and most races in skyrim, i didn't feel you should only play dunmer in morrowind, or imperial only in oblivion. in morrowind the lore itself stated the nerevarine was an "outlander", seems it fits better if s/he was not dunmer at all. in oblivion i never got the feeling that it felt wrong to be a nord hero, or a dunmer, or bosmer. nor does it feel wrong for me personally when the dovahkiin turnouts to not be a nord.
  5. now that i can agree with. as for how i could compare imperials to americans for whoever asked so many posts ago. at first i was trying to use more modern examples as it seemed the op was doing or trying to, however as you can see i was having trouble making such comparisons while using modern cultures as i progressed. now attitude wise (as in the average sentiment of the imperial citizen or even imperial legionaries) they seemed to "act" or express themselves in an american tone. (not to be confused with accent or ideology) and to the people who seem to be getting into a fight, could you cool your jets. i actually like having discussions here, i'd rather not have it degrade to a shouting match, even if there are dovahkiin here. lol if you don't care for such a topic would you mind staying out of the thread and not posting just to tell us so. or you could explain your point of view politely if you like, I wouldn’t mind that.
  6. mine's doing it now too. wasn't doing it 3 days ago. :wallbash:
  7. can you picture ulfric as highking or emperor even? ulfric as highking would be a disaster for skyrim, let alone making him emperor. making ulfric emperor would cause more damage to the empire then the oblivion crisis & the great war combined.
  8. in vanilla skyrim you can only have one follower and one dog following you at any given time. you can have many followers waiting to join you though. i use AFT or Amazing Follower Tweaks found here. *Clicky*
  9. in dunmer the change was an internal one. it came from within them (so says azura). the orsimer were tainted by a daedra, it was more than a simple surface change. it was more than simply a physical alteration. i'm not awake enough for this arguement.
  10. i haven't had this issue. might have something to do with the vampirelord's size. i use that vampirelord trimming mod so i can fit into doorways. just a thought.
  11. i think of orcs in tes lore as ex-elves. you asked if they are elves; not if they were. so i voted no. when the chimmer (i can't even remember if that's how it's spelled) changed into to dunmer they were known as dunmer, they are no longer refered to as chimmer. they did stay elves though. and bretons are humans who have a high concentration of altmer blood, not sure if that counts as half-elf or not. ---edit if the elf killing battleaxe says they're not elves who are we to argue?
  12. LOL.... ....maybe then you haven't seen the mods I have seen then....search 'Aoki' among the uploaded mods if you dare.... ....their the mods I assumed you were talking about....full frontal's and framed for viewing pleasure... :ohdear: .... :turned: i have to say even if i was wearing skimpy armor that's the area i'd want to place the most protection. :whistling: edit--- typo
  13. i think it's more like (by culture and attitude) Bretons-British Imperials-American Nords-Norwegians Orcs-Huns (as in Attila the Hun *sp*) Redguards-Africans Altmer-Germans or French Dunmer-Civilwar era Japanese (16th-17th century) or early 19th century Americans Bosmer-somewhat Korean (i'll give you that), but not really... kind of hard to place. ---edit the altmer & orcs i can see. how did you get that for bosmer?
  14. you get the land for a house as a reward from a jarl. sort of like the thane quests. you shouldn't have gotten a letter from falkreath yet though.
  15. i heard ceri talking about sneaking out of the temple to go to the market a few times. so i'm changing my opinion on having a sneaky ceri. i guess it does fit her character after all.
  16. the dreugh? one more thing i miss from morrowind. the fletching mod. where you can create & customize every stock arrow in the game. make some ebony arrows & remove the arrowhead, replace it with 2 or 4 sided razor tips, or coat it in scorpion poison, or attach pouches containing exploding powder to the arrowheads. loved that.
  17. LOL....You know I had been thinking to myself if someone is trying to kill you, what their wearing and how they look wouldn't be taken into consideration at that kind of point...but who really knows....Your example here caught my attention though, having faced the exact same situation in very similar Art (Ninjukai Taijitsui) ....though me being a female, mine is from a female perspective and who I was sweet on was an Instructor....yes, was rather distracting when I kept accidentally pulling front of his Gi (shirt) open when throwing him around.....Though I still wonder would I have felt so enamored if he was actually trying to kill me. i've heard stories about that type of situation. at least one ended in a marriage. well, ok... it ended in marriage, then death, bloodbath, followed by more death and finally truely ending in a suicide.
  18. just wanted to say i've been using ceri since the 1.6.3 version and she happens to be the best, least annoying follower i've ever used in a tes game. including morrowind, oblivion as well as skyrim. my hat is off. now to the poll. to give ceri conjuration wouldn't be a good thing IMHO. it doesn't seem to fit into her character. elric on the other hand, i think it would fit him much better if he doesn't have it already. turning ceri into a sneaky priestess doesn't seem to fit with her personality either, at least to me. and well i actually like having to adapt my tactics to account for having non sneaky characters following me, adds a bit of a challenge. as for removing ceri from the vanilla follower system, well i like having the option of switching to AFT's framework if it suits me, it doesn't at this point in time, but that might change. and if you start making drastic changes it might require a clean save (i've stopped doing those, it seems that when a savefile has been too cleaned it starts to do odd things, at least to me) but it's your mod after all, and you have an idea of how it's going to evolve, so it's totally your call.
  19. all i can say is do what you like. i usually don't even read the hype, well when there is hype. i usually just pick out the bits about the mod itself, ignore the fancy words that don't really tell me anything, and then hit the buglist & screenies. and phenderix don't worry, i actually happen to be a fan of your mods, and i'm fairly picky. so the mod hard-sells itself.
  20. there was makeup in the ancient world, usually made using pigment from berries, plant extracts (such as lavender), beetle shells, etc. look at ancient egypt, greece, or rome. Just thought I’d put that out there. As for skimpy armor, has anyone seen greek cavalry, or foot soldiers? Their armor could be called skimpy, and I’m talking actual armor like you might see in a museum, not the stuff you see in movies. I’ve never actually seen ancient samarian armors for myself, but the illustrations I’ve seen didn’t seem to give samarian soldiers all that much protective coverage either. And they had one of the first well organized & equipped professional military forces in the ancient world. The first if I recall correctly (not sure on that count). Now, I guess in summation… I have no problem with having some pretty faces in my game (I use bella personally, light makeup no shine) but I think most faces should be fairly nice to look at maybe not exactly drop dead gorgeous, but a few should be I suppose, and there should be roughly the same number of “ugly” faces as there are “beautiful” ones. Like I said earlier there was actually some makeup in the ancient world so I have no issues there. body shape, I do use cbbe with the vanilla body type option & the navetsea texture pack (I’m not a fan of the plastic women either). How does that make me rate on the realism scale, just thinking out loud, so to speak. As for modern\anime type outfits it’s not really my style so I don’t really use them. Though from a personal viewpoint I guess I do see them as non-lorefriendly, not that there’s anything wrong with that, for me i prefer more lore friendly additions to my game, but that’s just personal taste on my part. Skimpy armor, well if it’s heavy armor it does bother me quite a bit, but light armor is fine IMHO. Sometimes I like a character that has a devilish personality, so she\he needs devilish attire, which in translation means somewhat skimpy armor. However, most times I tend to go for non-skimpy armor, I just like it better. Now that bit about having a hard time hitting someone when you’re to distracter by her hotness… well, I use to have a sparring partner I had the hots for, my instructor knew I had the hots for her and thought it would be good for me to figure out how to deal with distractions when in combat… as you’ve most likely guessed when I was sparring with her my performance was never really at its best when I was facing her, so that does at least lend some credence from my personal experience. She wasn’t even wearing anything all that revealing either. So just thinking what would have happened had she been wearing say… a bikini. Don’t even wanna think about that. (2nd degree black-belt in ninpo or ninjitzu as it’s better known, I know you were wondering)
  21. as far as tiber septim being a nord or imperial, i never recalled hearing about his lineage in morrowind or oblivion. only about his accomplishments. does anyone remember anything about tiber septim’s background, or rather his background as it applies to this subject? as for what i miss from morrowind. i guess the feel of morrowind. even with the vanilla game it just seemed more polished, more complete. oblivion and skyrim feel more like half a game & trying to cover for that fact with slightly changed gameplay (or very changed in regards to skyrim) & flashier graphics, at least to me, if i'm being honest. i also miss the depth of it. it had far more character than the following titles. and yes i do miss left gauntlets, right gauntlets, pauldrons, greaves. and the shortblade, longblade, claymore, battle axe, etc. skills too. i also miss not being lead around by the nose. tell me where to go how to get there, but let me actually find my way there. i miss the long complex quests mixed in with the simple ones. And i hate not being able to ignore the main quest cause I’ve been thrown head first into a situation where time seems to be a facter. In morrowind usually I didn’t even start the main quest till I was fairly well established in the island, mid level member of the fighter’s guild, mages guild, adopted by one of the great houses, done quite a few odd jobs, etc. you can’t really do that in oblivion or skyrim. Hmm, I really want to join the fighter’s guild but I really should do something with the amulet of kings, then I have to find martin before he’s killed if he isn’t dead already. Or I want to join the companions but I really should do something about these dragons first. Even if it is rather silly to go about hunting dragons without any real training. See what I mean? i also miss the attention to detail. now oblivion, what do i miss from oblivion. rpg attribute sets, classes, birthsigns, conversation mini-games. now i still feel oblivion was a bit more hollow then morrowind and well some of the same stuff im missing from morrowind is similar to the stuff i miss from oblivion, but morrowind did it better IMHO. these days game developers think that they can distract us with shiny new graphics and they can ignore depth of gameplay & environment. when games had poorer graphics & less advanced tech they had to dazzle us with depth & story. now they give us bs, bs in nice packaging but bs non the less. as always IMHO, and sorry for the not so little rant
  22. reading that did give me a small case of the chuckles, seeing as aela did the same thing to one of my characters. i'm a bad man, a very, very bad man. *chuckles*
  23. the only time i use the console to "cheat" is when i need to for character rping reasons. like when i recreated my vampire\assassin\mage champion of cyrodiil from oblivion, or i have a character who's backstory becomes quite lame when i have to explain why s\he started the game at lvl1.
  24. I'd heard that before. Got a lot of ebony weapons off of various deathlords that I don't need: would adding petty enchantments to already inherently more valuable weapons, also speed up enchanting? Another question. Passive bonuses, like "muffle," that have no percentages, and no drainable charges: should you just go ahead and use a petty gem and not better, since the enchantment is the same: or am I missing something? for your fist question, it's the value of the enchantment not the value of the item you're enchanting, i think. i could be wrong though. as for the next question, i think that would be true of something like muffle, though using a better soul might make the item your enchanting more valuable (not sure there). now if it's something like 2x backstab damage it might increase the 2x to 3x or more. (not sure about that cause i've never had an item i could use the 2x backstab enchantment on) now enchantments that add 50 health or stamina; those can give you more powerful versions of enchantments while using better gems with better souls, it’s not just the %50 skill bonus that can improve with higher quality souls. (I’m having more trouble explaining myself then usual cause my chair keeps dropping an inch at a time as I’m typing… it’s quite distracting)
  25. i'll take a stab here. mara's parents were traveling healers, her father was a retired legion healer & her mother was an alchemist. being followers of mara her parents named their only daughter after the goddess they worshipped and also explains why her parents went around healing the sick and injured. as a child her parents stumbled into a camp of talos worshippers who had been pursued by thalmor soldiers. many people at the campsite were injured and her parents stopped to offer them aid. shortly after they started treating those injured people the thalmor caught up to the camp and started slaying people indiscriminately. the thalmor killed both of her parents brutally before her eyes; however one of the fleeing talos worshippers rescued her from the clutches of the thalmor and looked after the poor child out of respect for the girl’s parents, who had died because they tried to help his friends and loved ones. her new father forced to flee from thalmor operatives escaped by boat to morrowind, then the pair headed north to the island of solstheim. he and his daughter originally hid amongst the untamed wilderness before taking up residence in the legendary mead hall thirsk. over the years her adopted father grew restless and became fedup with hiding so he headed back to cyrodil and found old friends to put up his daughter while he was gone. he then headed up north to skyrim intending to join the stormcloak uprising. mara didn't want to let her beloved father leave her behind so she followed without her guardian’s knowledge or consent. Her father came upon the stormcloak expedition by chance, just before they fell into the imperial ambush. Her father was killed during the initial skirmish before the small force of stormcloaks surrendered to the imperials. ---edit after some thought i've had an idea about the companions issue her new father fleeing from thalmor operatives escaped to morrowind then headed north to the island of solstheim, where he and his daughter originally hid amongst the untamed wilderness before taking up residence in the legendary mead hall thirsk (the companions reminded me of the nords there). i've made some additions to the backstory.
