Pagafyr
Dragonborn secrets?! What are you thinking about. He'll be transformed just like the others. Mehrun sneered. We need to get Daegon's trust. Then with her help get speed things up so he transforms. With any luck he will kill Alduin first! Then we can kill him. Daegon's mother stood thinking a moment. I will convince her we're on her side. Her mother focused on her daughter. Cast a spell, vanished, and appeared next to her. Mother! A gate opened. Wait for me in the throne room. I will be along shortly. But Mother! I am with the Dragonborn. Your interference just now could have gotten him killed. Dear! My child; he is Dragonborn. As long as the dragon blood flows in his veins he is indestructable. But he nearly died. I was there! I know dear. Now go through the gate to the palace! I must tend to some business. Daegon yelled into heated Oblivion air. Where are you Father?! Please, Daegon. Calm yourself. You'll meet with him soon. Daegon turned toward the daedric gate beyond a moat. Looking along the path to it across a river of fire. She shouted. Thunder rocked the land around her. Unseen by her at that moment her mother was shocked. What was that? Was that your Father roaring at me?! Daegon looked at her mother. Daughter. Please! Let me be with hime for a moment longer. I will do what I can. If you don't I will leave the palace and go find Father's gate to this city my way. Alright! I will. I will do it Daegon so you will stop complaining. Next time be prepared for an audience with him. Only not now! You must wait for me in the palace. Daegon backed up. Studying the area. She saw the main gate. Symbols glowing golden red along the edge on the wall's frame surrounding it. She stepped back another step. Watching her mother until she turned to leave Daegon cast a rune spell on the ground. A marker. She took a quick look to be sure her mother didn't notice. Her mother vanished. Daegon walked to the gate. She looked at the gate. The throne room in Sadrith Mora was one step away. Once she was through the gate into the throne room the gate closed. Her mother would open it again. Daegon thought, This time I will find you Father. Her mother turned to Mehrun. She's more powerful then we expected. Sitting on his throne Mehrun glared at her. Yes my love. I suspected. But the spell we cast didn't work. The dragonborn didn't change as was expected they do once the achieve knighthood. He should have died! Daegon's mother frowned. No! I mean she can shout. She shouted at the gate and the land all shook. Mehrun sat up. She shouted? She can speak the dragon language? Yes! Mehrun roared. She can shout! That's never happened in Oblivion. How can she shout here and not on the mundane plane?! Daegon's mother's lips pursed as she thought. This never happened before. Not even as a child enraged did shouting ever cause that to happen. Mehrun raised a fist. Smashed it down on the arm of his throne. We must find a way to break her love for him. If Aldiun is defeated. I mean, KILLED! The dragon's will be free to break the veil between Sovengard and engage us in battle for the realms of Oblivion. We could end up slaves to them. Daegon's mother shuddered. But as long as Daegon is bound to him we still have a playing card. Mehrun growled. We must find a way to turn her against him. I have a better idea! My lord. I wonder if they made love? Mehrun looked at her. She looked at Mehrun. The passions they share grew. Calm yourself dear. Now I am thinking maybe... Mehrun looked into her eyes. Still a little touched by his growing desire for her. Wait! Are you thinking what I think you're thinking? You're not thinking she has somehow become endowed with dragon blood? Mehrun's face screwed up in wrinkles. It might be possible. If she is not pregnant then what?! Daegon's mother turned, walked, turn a short distance, and walked back. Maybe? No! We don't know who his parents are? Do you Mehrun? Mehrum shrugged; we thought our love making wasn't possible. Daegon was born. Mehrun! Stop drooling! What?! He grumbled under his breath. It's been awhile since we made love. Dear. Daegon's mother spouted. Stop it. Maybe later? For now we need to think. What if his parents are not human? Daegon's mother looked him in the eye. We will need to get Daegon's trust. I could suggest a marriage. Say that he could become her husband. If she desires it she'll easily be convinced to get to know who his parents are. Yes! Mehrun marveled at the idea. Convince her with your charms he could be her husband and the new King of Sadrith Mora when she is queen. Good! Good! Go now! See to it. Mehrun laughed. She can shout! That's never happened in Oblivion. I wonder if she can shout on the mundane plane?! Daegon's mother's lips pursed as she thought. This never happened before. Not even as a child enraged did shouting ever cause that to happen. Mehrun glared out into space. Shouting at his temple's walls. To be Ruler of Oblivion is my rite! So mote it be! Daegon's mother turned and dashed out of his palace throne room into the street. Outside she levitated to swiften her travel to the Oblivion gate to her palace. Under her breath she muttered. Soon! Once the gate was closed she stared ahead in the room to see if Daegon had obeyed. She was no where in sight. DAEGON! We need to talk.
Pagafyr
As the carriage rolled along the wheels clattered on the old roads broken stone. The carriage bounced and wobbled. To get her mind off her body being shifted and rocked Lydia pondered the mountains. There's a cave. I wonder what is inside. Hm? She looked a him. He was deep in thought. I'll just mark this on my map so we can check it out later. The coach driver interrupted. There's an old castle ahead. Duck down. There are some necromancers there on the walls. Once in awhile they hire me. If they don't need anything or don't see you a reason to stop me they will let me pass. As the coached rolled up the hill passing the broken castle walls the driver hung his head to suggest to anyone watching that he was poor in more ways than just in gold at the moment. At the other end the coached neared a wooden tower. A bowman stood at the top of the tower gazing out of it's empty sockets. The uncanny sight of a skeleton seeing without eyes made the driver groan. He whispered. I hate them necromancers. The dead are dead and should be left to be. As the wagon moved over the old road, the road rose up to the top of the hill along side the mountains to the left and a field to the right. As the mountains to the right side slid back the land sloped down. All the way to the sea. The road began to descend. Almost as if he could read their minds he spoke again. No! Not yet! We're still in the bowman's range. Just a moment. As the tail end of the carriage disappeared from the bowman's view he spoke again. Good! We're out of it's sight. Can you see the top of the mountain to the left. See that statue holding a star and a sliver of a moon in her hands. I've always wanted to go up there and get a closer look. It's some Dunmer goddess. The road turned to the left. A guard walked along the road ahead. There's a mine on the left. It's got lots of iron ore in it. Even has a smelter outside if your ever interested in that kind of stuff. Had to mend a wheel once. Took me awhile. But I figured out how to make the metal strip to mend the wheel. Ah! We can see the College of Winterhold from here. There it sits. I will drop you at the gate to the village. There's not much left of the old Winterhold. Some folks blame the mages. Lately I've heard rumors there might be some people coming to rebuild the village. That would be a good thing for the folks there. They could use some more commerce. Thanks. I'll be back this way if anyone needs a ride from Windhelm. Not many people can afford the trip and walk it. I'll turn the carriage around. I can pull up to the shop then. That will make it easier for you to unload. The stairs to the college is just there. There is enough room I can turn the carriage around. As the carriage stopped Lydia stood as Fyr climbed down. He gave her a hand down. They picked up the cultist gear. There's a man who enchants things at the college. You might find those peoples gear enchanted. Just a thought! They both waved to the driver as drove away. He stopped and got down. Walked to the Inn. Waved back. Lydia looked ahead. The road continued through Winterhold to the colleges steeps stairs. Fyr eyed them. Best wipe the snow off our feet when we get to the bottom step. Looks slippery. Lydia studied further up. Aye! The College looks like it's barely held up by the remains of a mountin that was once there. I hope it lasts under our extra weight. She let loose a sigh. Giggled at the thought. Fyr peered at it. That's a scary observation. It isn't held up by much that's for sure. I wonder what happened? Halt! Hello Fyr replied. Is there a problem? You are strangers. Why are you here? I was told you have such a healer here. I wish to learn to restoration spells. Do you know a healing spell? She looked reluctantly at him. I have learned a simple one. Um? I know a lightning spell. Mind if I use that one. Very well. Cast it on the symbol behind me on the pathway's entrance. Give it your best shot. The air crackled with streaks of lightning forming around his hand. He cast it. Whoah! Your skill is very powerful. That spell takes a lot of magicka to cast. I teach destruction spells. I am very impressed. Welcome! Follow me as I light the way along the path. Be careful. The path hasn't been repaired. Thankyou! I got a lot of practice on the way, using it. I will. Follow. He looked at Lydia. We will... Follow you! Speak to Mirabel when you get inside. She will be just beyond the Statue. Fyr walked along steering each step carefully stepping she left along the way. He tested the winds gauging them as they approached where the walled sections were torn away. He looked at Lydia and said, It's a long way down! As his approach neared a long section of broken wall he froze. Lydia pulled him back. His eyes rolled up. Lydia called to the woman. Help me! He's passed out. She came back to them. Let me see his face. Yes. Grabbed his arms and lifted him. She looked at Lydia, Grab his legs and follow me. Slowly the crept along. Mirabel saw them enter through the gate. He's in shock. Pagafyr
Lydia! Where are we? We're safe. We're at the Mages college. Do you remember coming here? I was dreaming I was where the land was red, rivers ran with red hot flows of unimaginable scum, and fires popped up and disappeared in cracks along their banks. It was so real. I saw a monster. He was standing near Daegon. Their was a woman there. She looked like one of Daegon's people. She hugged Daegon. The monster watched. Daegon spoke to it. They all disappeared. I saw Daegon again. She started changing. Her flesh changed. Her flesh changed so her skin looked like the monsters. Listening outside the door the healer looked at Mirabel. He has seen the lands of the daedra gods. What he described as a monster is one of the gods. A horrible monster. That could be only one in particular. Mehrun Dagon. If what he described is true. His friend can no longer return to our world. Tolfir! Mirabel. Pointed at Fyr. He's in serious need of a healer who can restore his mind. The healer looked at her, he needs to dream the dream of the Dragon flight. It's his only hope of ever overcoming his fear of heights. Mirabel looked a Tolfir. As soon as he recovers enough to reason he's eligible to become your student. Tolfir looked at the healer. Do you know who could restore him? The greybeards may know a way. But they never leave their palace. Mirabel turned to face them both. I think they will this time; for all our sakes. Pagafyr
Your worship. It appears the mages sent students with Tolfdir to explore Saarthal. I arrived as they entered a room after they broke through the first barrier. I contacted the one called the dragonborn. He's completed his lessons and is becoming a powerful mage. Which will be beneficial. We feel events have been set in motion that need your attention though. While the one called the dragonborn has been a student at the College of Winterhold we felt a ripple in time. I was sent to investigate. I found that he and his classmates are exploring Saarthal. Tolfdir sent him to look for artifacts. They were about to stumble upon the Eye of Magnus. I informed him that a chain of events would lead to one of two ends. I was able to convince him to be careful with what he finds. I told him his actions could lead to either end and is up to him. I studied his responses. From what I was able to assess while reading his mind I leave to you to decide what to do next. He has traveled through time. 1000 years. The dragon Alduin and he were teleported from the past at the same time. They both materialized in Skyrim recently. He doesn't remembered his past. He has no conscious memory of his past or where he traveled from through time. He literally was captured in a time wyrm when another of the dragonborn cast Alduin out thinking it would destroy Alduin. I do not understand one thing from his memories. He has no past connecting him with the line of dragonborn. I suspect while in the time wyrm along side Alduin he may have received the power of the dragon since they were entered in there together. I informed him we are not judging him, but we will be watching him. Thank you Talmas. You may go.
Pagafyr
Daegon stepped into the palace throne room. Being home began to draw her thoughts back to memories of the good life living at home in the palace. A bath would be nice! She looked around dreamily. At first chance I am going to take a bath. A flicker of fire shot out past her. She turned around looked at the blazing door. Hm? I wonder what they're talking about? Standing waiting she glared at the portal. Minutes passed. She began to go toward it and stopped. Best not test her. She studied the room. Moments with memories of her childhood began to come back to her. I used to play in this room. She remembered a game. She dashed behind the throne to look behind a curtain. As she drew aside the cloth she turned to its other side and crouched silently there. As she did she saw something familiar. A doll she thought she had lost was sitting against the wall as if waiting for her return. She recalled the memory of the last time she was playing hide and seek with her mother. It used to be so much fun. She pulled the curtain aside enough to see the passage. The sun beam coming through windows moved a short distance. If her mother stayed there another minute there it would be dark soon in Sadrith Mora. She looked at the doll. A feeling of sadness was overcome as she picked it up. I found you at last. She remembered the moment setting the doll down. She told the doll she won't look here. The doll in the child's hand nodded in agreement. She sat her back to the wall while they waited for mother to give up poking around in the room looking for her. DAEGON! We need to talk! Startled the little girl in her memory turned leaving her favorite doll. Daegon almost stood up; old habits die hard, her new trained in instincts responded and instead she crouched lower and stopped. Turned. Looking at the doll she thought, let's hide for awhile. Maybe we'll find out a little about what she's up to. Looking at her dolls she throught to it. Remember how she always talks to herself when she thinks no one is listening. Let's listen. This time though you're coming with me. Quickly she put the doll in her pouch.
Pagafyr
Her mother spun around eyes red with anger. Her mind weaving her next move. Soon! I will rule by Mehrun's side in Oblivion and when that day comes... Her mother walked to the hall. DEAGON! Where has she gotten too?! As soon as she was out of ear shot Daegon slipped out from behind the curtain. Dashed to the back of the throne. Took a deep breath. Stole across to the wall on the right. Paused. Grinned. Darted to the tapestry on the right hanging down alongside the door. I will be more powerful with my daughter's alliance. She must become queen first. Once she is on the throne I can rule here through her alliance to me. Hm? If only I knew why the spell I cast on the dragonborn didn't work. The portion copied from that old Telvanni's spell book must be missing something. If only I could find that book! It might be there in the secret library room; still. I must of missed where I put it back on the shelf in my excitement. Might have put it down on another shelf? After I check the secret room in the library I'll go find Daegon. As she listened Daegon began to understand the plot her mother was hashing out. She pushed the doll into her pouch. Her hand brushed against the book that the healer had with spells that the healer saved her pet dragon with. The spell prolonging his life. Hm? I wonder? While waiting for her mother to get out of range she cast the invisibility spell. Then a muffle spell. She prepared to dash along the hallway. Taking a left from the hall to the library so she would avoid being discovered and get into the bath to wait for her mother to discover her. Her mother stormed out of the throne room heading for the library. I know! She's probably taking a bath. Of course! She stopped in the hallways extensions. Thinking about her problems a moment. She stood turning to go to where her daughter's private bathing room. The book first. She'll likely take her time bathing. Daegon touched the doll in the pouch. Just like she was a little girl again she lost the harden shell gained by her experiences for a moment and talked to it. So, that's her plan?! Rule Oblivion and make me queen to hold power over the kingdom and expand to increase her power over Vvardenfel. Daegon's eyes lids went wide. I wonder if this is the book she's looking for. After I convince mother I am eager to return to the palace and carry out as my old self so she doesn't get wise that I know her plans. Once I learn anything that I might that will be of help, then... Thinking like she did when her doll gave her a pause to consider her thoughts a moment gave her time to consider her plan a bit more. Yes! That's a good idea! I will sway her to feel she still has some work to do to gain my full allegiance. I will add that I will help by keeping an eye on my dragon pet. Then we're going to the mansion. Where I can dodge the spies and escape their watchful eyes. We're going to Riverwood then. There; I can keep my thoughts private and study this book. She felt her thoughts were clearer. Having reconnected with her best friend. A friend since childhood. She was her confidant. Lilly! I missed you. She hugged the little doll. A look of astonishment came over her. Are you joking?! Grown up?! I am only 200. Time to make my next move. Bath time!
Pagafyr
The queen entered Daegon's room. Everything in the room was still the way it was the day she was sent off to school. Daegon! I'm just about finished. I'll be right out. The queen's patience was short winded. She needed to speak before she lost her temper. As she stood fuming her thoughts became mingled with the smells of fresh air, warm bath air, and the light scent of perfumes all filled her nostrils. She began losing her strength to moments of gentler times. Memories of the times she spent in this room with her child playing together. She stepped over to the bed. Sitting down she remembered talking with the curious loving child that adored her as much she did her. Mother. A moment mingled within her memories. The two of them sitting there. The little girl looking up at her. Those big baby eyes full of wonder. Touching her mothers hair and then twisting a strand of long hair admiring it. Will my hair be as lovely as yours some day? Mother. Yes Daegon. Daegon stopped at the bathing room door to her bedroom. Her mother's face looked so tender and had a beautiful glow upon her flesh. She paused to let the moment last a bit longer. Her own thoughts mingled in. Suddenly it occurred to her mother might be in a moment of weakness she be able to manipulate. Daegon thought. This transference spell. I can see the images on her mind. She cast the dark magic spell. She slipped into her mother's momentary daydreaming. Seeing her mother like she was. She gently moved to be nearer her mother. Mother. How do you make that strange red door? She watched her mother carefully. For a moment her mothers face held the look of gentle surprise. Her left hand reached to a pocket in her robe. Daegon saw. A special device. A key? Daegon moved swiftly to be on her mothers opposite side. To reduce suspicion that she might have seen anything. Facing her mother when she snapped out of her day dream. You're young dear. When you are older I will show you. Daegon softly reached to her mothers side, sliding her hand along her long hair down to her waist. Her mother's expression seemed pleased to have her stroking her hair. Her mothers eyes closed enjoying the moment. Deagon's other hand found the item in her rob and quickly lifted it out. Slipping it behind her back she tucked it under the blanket. Mother? Yes dear. Mother my room looks untouched. Did you have it cleaned just for my return? Confound it! Did you just take something of mine? Daegon stood. No! She slid her hands along her bathing gown. I didn't. See for yourself. Daegpn opened the gown exposing all. No. See. What were you remembering? You looked so lovely.
Pagafyr
Your worship. While we've been keeping a close watch on the dragonborn he left the college of Winterhold he traveled south and waited for a long time at a spot in a grove. During our watch he appeared to be taking in the scenery. At least that is what we thought. Then he disappeared. Our spy reported that he took a step forward, his foot, and then his leg disappeared into thin air, he bowed his head, and it disappeared. His body disappeared entirely then. She called for assistance. When her call was answered she told him what she saw. Then asked him to help her. She told him she bumped her head on something invisible and clearly solid. Neither of them was visible to anyone outside while in their watch bubbles. She put aside her fears that the dragonborn may suspect they are watching him. She said she did not make herself visible. She asked the other spy if his senses picked up on anything. Then she touched the solid spot and began looking for any way to figure out what it was. While she did she still feared the man might know she was there somehow. The two took measures to discover any access. They began feeling hand over hand and decided they should try to determine the size of the invisible obstruction. Her partner went to one space around five steps away from her. Then his body partially disappeared from her view. She followed. She said; It turned out they discovered the object is able to make a mirage so the area seems to be undisturbed. When she went back to where she had been and continued searching with her hands her partner was completely out of sight. She was out of his also. They communicated while searching. Then he stopped answering her. She called out. Got no answer. Called for sentries. When they arrived she gave them a watch post and told them to keep an eye on her. Assured one of them would always have her in their sight she returned to discover the dimensions of the object. She could see by their positions where she had been. She felt a corner edge. Leaned to her right to look around it. Then the other spies head popped out without his body. She was about to scream when he held a hand up and put a finger to his lips to get her to be quiet. She tip toed toward him. Once where she was face to face with him, his entire body was visible to her. She called the sentries and posted them at that moment to where the two of them stood. She walked up to him. They both stepped all the way inside. He pointed to a space inside. They entered. Dragonborn was inside. He was near a fireplace adding wood to warm up the place. As our spies watched he sat down on a chair and got comfortable. He reached under the chair and slid out a box. He opened it and pulled out some clothes. Neither of our spies recognized the cloth or the style. He pulled something else out of the bundle. He started speaking. At that moment she understood why we could not read his mind. His language is completely foreign to us.
Pagafyr
Sir! Are you sure they can't see you? Da Vingia, you're completely alone, you're in a room almost like they are. Hidden to anyone's sight in their shielded space your space is all they see. But Sir! How is that possible. It's because we're in different rooms. As long as you have the communicator you see me in mine. They're not as advanced as I am. My devices allow for us to be in two different places while we talk and see each other. But Sir! Now! Now. There are five of them and I will be able to get to work on deciphering their language. I need to find out why you're here. What about those women I was with before you arrived? Da Vingia the one is at your door outside your bedroom. She thinks you're sleeping. The other has vanished. Until we can collect her and learn more about her it's best to stay focused on the present. Because they are a barbaric lot I will need to find records of their lives first. What about the powers I have? I believe you always have had them. They were just dormant until now! Here there is a connection. Lets get to work. Say aloud you're thirsty. Then pick up the cup of water and drink. What for?! I'm not thirsty. I want you to pretend so we can give them an idea of what your language is. Hopefully they will hear and see then compare it with their language. Then you can follow that with the food, and than with what you learned to survive before I followed your stream and found you. Since you already know several terms we can assume that each simple expression will serve so we can increase their knowledge of your language. The sooner I learn theirs, the sooner I can mediate for you. I don't want you getting killed. What year is it?! I can't say, as I haven't figured out their way of keeping track of time in any measures. Did you bring any books you found? Yeah! At least we have that in common. Yes! Your people do. For thousands of years people relied on the style of books with binds. Hm? They keep repeating the word draco. Now I am sure they are referring to you. I think it means dragon. Pagafyr
How to use the oblivion key must require a spell? Hm? Daegon opened the ancient spell book. She began flipping through the pages. She stopped. I'd better go to the mansion. I'll sort this out where there won't be any prying eyes. She grabbed her cloak and levitated off the balcony down toward the teleportation room. Outside the entrance she floated up to the entrance. She caught a whiff of some vendors goods. Ah! Her stomached growled. She looked for the stand where the wonderful scent came from. She followed her nose As she passed the Stilt Rider she saw the vendor. She remembered the tasty treat. She saw it tantalizing her memories of childhood. She purchased the item from the vendor. The vendor's face light up. Daegon! Is that you? Daegon looked at the woman. You're Telda! What are you doing out here?! Daegon! It is you. My how you have grown. I've been away at school. Telda. Mother brought me home to discuss some matters. You look good, but why aren't you in the palace working there? Telda rolled her eyes up and looked toward the palace. Too cold for my old bones. I decided to open a shop. I was having trouble trying to decide whether to go back or take my skills home. Childhood memories flooded my mind and so did all the good memories from here. Decided on the between and stayed here. How do you like it? What? Daegon looked at her a moment. What?! The food silly. Daegon stopped a moment. Smiled. Telda smiled. Miss it that much. Daegon swallowed. It's been so long. Telda blushed. You've reassured me I haven't lost my touch. Eat! We can talk when you're done. Daegon slowed down a bit. Chewing slower to enjoy it more. Deagon K... She looked up staring at where someone stood who interrupted her thoughts while. I'm... I'm a courier! I have a message for you. He swallowed hard to keep his wits about him. Oh! Suspicion grew as she looked at the envelope in his hand. She wondered who it could be from. Reminded she was at Sadrith Mora in Vvarvenfel she couldn't imagine. Give it here! It's from... I can read. She realized her old temper from being interrupted while eating as a child was flaring up. Sorry! I'm just hungry and you interrupted this fine meal. Hand it over! His hand shook as he held it out. She acted lady like and reached out slowly for it. Then had second thoughts and snatched it. She gave him a look. Is there any charges or has the sender paid you already. She glared at him. Stabbed at the plate, piercing the last bit of food off the plate. Her tease worked. He stammered and backed up a step. She tossed him a coin. He smiled. Thank you your highness. Telda got her attention. Still have that spark of the wild in you? Scaring that young boy like that. You naughty girl. They shared a grin. She put down her fork and opened the letter. It gave her a start. What is it? Telda asked. It's a note from someone I have become friends with. Curious as always. Telda looked on. Why the face? I don't know how they knew I was here. She read the note. She touched to pouch where the key for the Oblivion gate was. She sucked in air sharply. She looked up and searched around the patio's for anyone else who might be interested in the message. She looked at Telda. Her inner child wanted to confide in her like the times she did while visiting her in that kitchen. My friends sick. It was so good to see you again. Telda raised up a package. I thought you might be going away for awhile. I fixed you a batch for the journey. She stood walked around the counter and hugged her. Whispered in her ear. With food this good you know I will be back. Daegon and Telda teared up. Bye. See you soon! Telda smiled at her for the thought warmed her soul. Daegon looked at family carriage and turned instead to walk a ways. She stared out to find the Mages Guild sign. Time to return to Winterhold the mages way. I can get to Riverwood from there.
