  1. Striker's lack of dice is certainly a limiting factor. He would scratch his head (to help the thought process ... sort of like how you used to stick your tongue out the corner of your mouth when drawing pictures in kindergarten) but the weight of the stone prevents all except a goose egg on his head. This gives Striker the idea that the scratch was supposed to deliver, and he waits for the closest snake to coil for a strike, and launches his own with a mighty swing of his stoned hand. At least now the two snakes won't be fighting over which gets to start at Striker's head (the other end is not the prefered end, shall we say). - Edit - Niph cautiously peeks into the room, and wonders at what dervish delights are spinning between MK and Striker.
  2. I knew what DM stood for ... I didn't exactly lie when I said that all I knew about DnD was from Foxtrot, that just wasn't the entirety of the truth. So now you're saying you clipped my nails for me?? I don't want to be scaly slithering something poop!! Sorry I missed this one ... of course I did not clip your nails , I was waiting for your input to suggest what weapons you have. Instead of the tedious roll the character and agree upon it. So DM is also standing for Dice Master ... Striker is a no dice kinda' guy I'm afaid (not even a deck of cards).
  3. One rock ... three snakes (minus one equals two ... right). Hmm while Striker bashes one with the rock the other will be eating him ... not a good plan. Grabbing the baubles first Striker splashes them across in front of one snake, distracting it. The second develops a very bad headache from the rock. Now the odds are evened up.

  5. Look at the books (I'm one of those weird ones that reads the manual). The book reads: Hither to thither and slither , Watch ye for a Bow and a Quiver ... and more dribble that is not worth the quibble , because the writer is spittle Poor Mk didn't notice the edit, and thus missed the slip of paper. He is now pondering the value of the baubles vs the possiblility of succeeding in knocking Striker in the noggin ... rendering him helpless to save his newfound wealth. Poor Striker doesn't realize MK is the DM (creating the story) Noticing among the baubles , you see a strange looking stone . Pondering it , a faint sound of slithering becomes noticeable. LOL ... Striker counts his lucky stars that he forgot to trim his fingernails once again, and slices open the belly of the scaly beast that had swallowed him whole. MK takes note of one hot under the collar looking Striker crawling from what was once considered a perfect spot for that pesky paper slip reader and ponders his options.

  7. Look at the books (I'm one of those weird ones that reads the manual). - Edit - When Striker picks up one of the books a slip of paper drops to the floor. Without thinking Striker picks up the paper and reads the strange incantation aloud. Striker's pockets all bulge with gold coins, and the baubles that sit on the table get less tempting to pick up. Must have been a Spell of Vast Wealth or something. And now I'm certain that Mk will not believe what I've attested to ... never playing DnD before. Jason and Marcus from the Foxtrot comic are to blame for what little I pretend to know.
  8. It would be a whole new area for me ... never played any version of DnD before. I find that statement highly suspect considering your Avatar pic . But I get the message ... that is a resounding NO from you people I was trying to con into rolling some dice together. No Mk ... I have never played Dungeons and Dragons. The closet I've ever been is Oblivion, which is where Athal Sarano (the avatar pic) resides. We were just off on yet another of our adventures, checking up on the good townsfolk of Cropsford (and collected Athal's modest stipend for services past rendered) before returning to Bravil. Next it's back to the Isles to insure that the inhabitants there (a rather loony lot) haven't been running amuck while Lord Sheogorath has been visiting Tamriel. Many ducks, and it takes time and effort to keep them all lined up properly.
  9. LOL ... reading the first of this last pair of posts had me thinking Paga. Should craft a reply to a Paga post or not? If I do, should I be so bold as to click the Post button and possibly disturb poor Paga's slumber? As if life wasn't already complicated enough!!
  10. I liked Brian Greene's answer to an audience question after one his recent talks. He said he doesn't discount anything out of hand. He uses Einstein's Theory of Special Relativity as a foundation for why he doesn't ... Einstein's paper wasn't immediately accepted, in fact it was derided as the product of an poorly educated patent clerk. We all know how that worked out for his detractors. Brian went on to tell how he receives hundreds of ideas every year, and explains that so few get a proper review simply due to his own time constraints. He postulates that there is a chance the next advance needed to push back the boundaries of our understanding of the universe may very well sit in his boxes of unread proposals.
  11. Perhaps a possible solution for future mods would be to have a selection when uploading a new mod/update to allow or disalllow repacking in a mod manager friendly manner (that would be No Permission as a default).
  12. Quite the cast for Devil's Rain ... somehow I've never even heard of it before. Your play sounds like something I would either love or hate, depending on the performance. Fortunately I find you on the good side of that coin. Does life have meaning? For the most part I feel more like a leaf floating down the River of Time than some purposeful force of nature (and those times I do feel purposeful Nature seems to take no notice).
  13. My case (CoolerMaster CM690) came with the black foam filter media for all the front fans, but the spots for the side and bottom fans were unfiltered. For the side fans I use two of the steel mesh filters intended for mounting directly to a fan mounted outside on the openings (the top one has it's fan mounted outside due to internal clearance while the lower one has the fan mounted inside). There wasn't enough clearance for the case bottom fan to have filters mounted externally, and to have them mounted on the fan internally would mean the filter would need to be dismounted from the fan to clean it. My compromise is to use strips cut from those filters you can buy for your furnace vent outlets (sort of a white mesh/matrix type stuff ... cuts easily to size). The strips are cut so that once folded lengthwise they fit in the spaces between the desktop and the case in between all of the feet on the case. I'm sure the setup restricts airflow a slight bit, but it works surprisingly well at keep dust from getting drawn in with the bottom fan.
  14. I did quite a while ago ... think it was Drake who was playing and it piqued my interest enough to have a look. I see it's another of those Steam games ... which excludes it from the Striker Universe of Gaming. Staem and I disagreed about something a long time ago. I have a Steam support account and that's as close as I'll ever come to having a Steam account. I'm too much like an elephant. So now you have me thinking we are all in some sort of soap opera ... my Mom just loved her All My Rotten Kids (or maybe it was As the Stomach Turns ... one of them anyway).
  15. It did take my understanding (as best as I'm able working with the Mark I gray matter I'm stuck with) to a whole new level. Even back when I first heard of how the gut microbiome affects our immune system I was sure there was a lot more to the story yet to discover. I am still waiting on one of my first questions on the subject though ... How much of the food I eat goes to feeding human cells, and how much goes to feeding non-human cells? Reason I'm interested is because maybe I should be consulting all my hitchhikers/fellow travellers before starting dinner preparations ... you know, find out what they want for dinner. They do outnumber my cells on the order of ten to one, so I guess what they want should carry some weight in the decision. And yes Paga, I have found that this is not knowledge that leads to one becoming a babe magnet. May even have the opposite effect, but I'm OK with that. The evening rest cyclic time didn't give me much deep comforting sleep. I recall views of computer monitor and trying to figure out what they really represent. A past game I played, a future one, or a serious non-fiction program that my mind is able to grasp so I dreamed about video programs I felt secure I know I had enough knowledge to used the keyboard and mouse controls while seeing them. I awakened two or three times and found I was pressing on the comfortable bedding as if I was typing on my keyboard. I keep a dream sleep journal and do the best I can to keep up with the speed of playing my memories to write about the dreams. The speed of thought occurs to be in a little bit hurry (faster than typing 20 words a minute) so my microbiome cultures get fed before one culture or another begins to overpower the other. LOL ... usually "mixing methaphors" is a writing thing. You seem to be living a mixed metaphor Paga!! Is it a bit disconcerting at times?
  16. You have opened a fascinating window there for me Perraine. I have never before considered the temporal implications of our "experience" (given that we "exist" as this on going narrative within us somewhere ... our head perhaps). So following your logic (which I certainly agree with) we are always living in the past, reacting to things that have already happened. Your observation regarding Brian Greene's work is also spot on ... I spent a lot of time jumping back to the appendix as I made my way through The Elegant Universe and then later The Fabric of the Cosmos. They are still on my recommending reading list. I'll be looking into some of the other suggestions you and Paga have offered ... been far too long since I last sat down to a good non-fiction read with book rather than screen in hand.
  17. Oh ya ... after I posted it I went back and watched a bunch of clips. His new YouTube stuff isn't quite the same as the old show but there's still that knack for bordering on bizarre (and who's to say which side of it he's hitting). And then, sort of as my own version of bizarre, I went traipsing off into a little "microbiome mind expansion" (well OK ... it did start out already rather enlarged, my mind I mean, in a microbiome aware kinda' way). So all those years ago, the old wives had it right along ... we are what we eat. Warning ... if big words are scary to you do not click ... That is some interesting stuff . But what say you about getting together for some dnd action ? I retract my sentiment about EQ2 because it is a BiAtch hog of loading screens. (just tested) And there has to be something better out there on the free market ? Err even not free market. I'm open to suggestions. I just like the idea of adventure with you guys ; ) It would be a whole new area for me ... never played any version of DnD before.

  19. What if thought travels faster than the speed of light? When Einstein was doing his best to debunk the whole field of quantum physics he actually discovered something. Einstein was the one who discovered the math for what he termed "spooky" entanglement at a distance. Not all that long ago it was experimental proven to be true. So electrons come in two flavours that are characterized by their spin. They can have a state called up spin or down spin. Quantum physics says that until you observe the electron it can be either spin, but once you observe it the electron will snap out of it's quantum state and have either up or down spin. Now if you take two electrons and put them into a state called entangled (which does pretty well exactly like the word implies ... what affects one has an affect on the other) and then separate the two electron by any distance (i.e. across the country or across the universe ... OK the experiment couldn't test that one but the math is the same) when you observe one of the entangled pair (thus locking it into either an up or down spin) the other entangled electron will snap into the opposite spin at exactly the same instant. I've not heard anything about ideas on how that is achieved (the moving of the entangled state at faster than light speed) but I postulate whether or not thought between two "entangled" individuals could operate the same way. Perhaps we won't know that answer until we understand what (if anything) those extra dimensions required by string theory bring to the game.

  21. Betcha Red Green never tried that one at the old Possum Lodge!! - Edit - Just in case you're scratching your head ...
  22. For Mktavish Wow how did you know I like that song ? You be reading thoughts an all ? Since it was Vevo I figured that, this; wasn't of interest... Wow how did you know I was in the middle of watching all the beatles videos I could find ? Paga is psychic ... he did the same to me (or is it something else ... sort of sounds similar). He he ... I'm being a meanie tonight Paga. Got my arrow armor on so fire away!!
  23. I have a modest collection of them if you really need one Niph ... a true steal at only a buck apiece!! Wasn't it a Corsair that bit the dust on you?
  24. I've been a Seasonic guy for my last few builds, but I see that Canada Computers is out of stock and backordered on all the Seasonics over 1000 watts. They don't come cheap though.
  25. Hey Paga ... you da man!! Thanks for that YouTube. It lead me onto a nice little Beatles trip. Good way to spend an evening.
