CCR is a dll plugin for SFSE, right? If so, it loads with the game exe, it is essentially load order independent. (same goes for all dll mods.) At this point, I don't trust Vortex. It really doesn't know what to do with starfield mods yet... so, I install everything manually, and "It just works.". :D

Updating a mod or releasing a new one?
HeyYou replied to PrometheusTS's topic in Starfield's Discussion
Mods don't go away any more. You can't delete them. If you update a mod though, the older version is archived, so, not really easily available for download, unless it's part of a collection. If you just make a new page, then the old mod is still there. You could 'hide' it, I suppose..... I agree with fraquar here though, updating lets you keep the comments thread. :D -
Seperate foods from Aid and a button thats EAT!
HeyYou replied to sophiextime's topic in Starfield's Mod Ideas
Separating aid, food, and 'enhancement drugs' into separate categories would be nice...... It will likely happen once we have modding tools. -
Given that there are human outpost and almost every planet/moon that I go to, one would think that we have already pretty thoroughly mapped known space, and it would be available on the nav table......

Isn't there one in the 'crew' section of the menus?

StarfieldCustom.ini Gets deleted after launching
HeyYou replied to Zenki171's topic in Starfield's Discussion
Can you just set your ini file as read only? I would be real curious why that is happening. If you DON'T start the game via vortex, does the same thing happen? -
Increase Starborn powers each time you go through the Unity
HeyYou replied to BlueBeard1983's topic in Starfield's Mod Ideas
Yes, an extremely grindy mechanic. I figure a mod that increases them, if you already have the power unlocked, would be a good alternative to those that no longer enjoy the temple "puzzle" There is a mod that reduces the number 'lights' you have to hit to get the power. There is also another mod that DRAMATICALLY shortens the video for it...... I use both. :D -
Probably need to wait until we actually have modding tools for the game, before re-textures become more common.

FreeStar mission terminal as buildable base object?
HeyYou replied to NZChimeran's topic in Starfield's Discussion
I would like to be able to put them on my ship...... :D Not like there aren't a fair few panels that don't really do anything, even in the smallest of ships. -
I genuinely like the game.... The minor tweaks also makes the game much more playable for me. And I run a bunch of 'em..... It's a beth game. I got more than what I expected, and I am very much enjoying what I got. The little tweaks only make it more enjoyable.

Increase Starborn powers each time you go through the Unity
HeyYou replied to BlueBeard1983's topic in Starfield's Mod Ideas
Powers increase when you visit a temple that gives you the same power..... Seems a reasonable mechanic to me..... -
NO overweight, if you can carry 135 you carry 135, no more !
HeyYou replied to Bracik1976's topic in Starfield's Mod Ideas
There are a selection of Legendary mods (rare? epic?) that cater specifically to carrying more weight that what your stats say. Making that number a hard cap would render them useless. -
Not true. We can sort of do the model bits now we've got a semi-working version of NifSkope and the .mesh plugin for blender. Once xEdit is updated from view only to actual edit, we should then be able to change the values of the ship modules. Is there a plugin for 3DSMax 2013 yet??

Outpost Building - Attach Modules Direct To Landingpad
HeyYou replied to Andylaser's topic in Starfield's Mod Ideas
Yeah, I want a couple things there... Either be able to adjust the height of the shipyard/landing pad, or, the ability to build the catwalks and such you see everywhere at other outposts.... but, the player doesn't seem to have the option for. -
"Wanted" trait doesn't lock you out of ship commandeering
HeyYou replied to LeeHelck's topic in Starfield's Mod Ideas
I love the wanted Trait. An endless supply of new ships, and equipment that just shows up every now and again. I have zero issue taking ships, though, you gotta be careful doing so, and yes, they have some ships that you CAN'T take. (class M ships, but those are extremely rare.) You need to take their shields down, and disable the engines, then just be close enough to dock. You can't dock if there are still other ships shooting at you though, so, pick which ship you want to take, leave that one for last. Destroy the others, then poke at the one you want. There is also a mod that allows you to dock from a bit more of a distance..... which helps. -
Or a way to 'cap' them, and harvest whatever resource they happen to be spewing. :D

I was thinkin' the same thing...... I mean, The Lodge has it inside, why can't I??? That said though, it seems that walls/doors/locks/etc simply don't matter to folks that appear to be able to teleport at will.....

New Game Plus Dosent wipe ships and inventory
HeyYou replied to udcplayer's topic in Starfield's Mod Ideas
Depends on just 'how' you are traveling. Is it your physical body that is moving between universes? Or is it just your 'soul' moving the alternate body of "you" in some other universe..... Given that The Hunter actually wants you to kill the 'him' in another universe, which he is in as well.... Makes me think that you do indeed physically travel to the 'new' universe. -
Being able to sort by type, and class would be nice...... I would also like to see ALL the ship parts available at the larger shipyards.... New Atlantis, Akila, Hopetown (as hopetech is based there.....) Being able to Choose/add/change which manufacturers are available at our OWN shipyards would be cool too. :D
-
You can already fast travel to your outposts...... Even from inside some buildings. (provided you aren't over-encumbered.....)

What hardware are you running the game on?

Why are all the boards on this site so inactive?
HeyYou replied to InDarkestNight's topic in Site Support
Lots of reasons, really, and it's not nearly as oddly convoluted as some like to make out: These forums are extremely old and are showing their age. These forums are not setup in a particularly efficient way, often requiring extensive deep diving into categories, involving many clicks, with some categories containing hundreds of sub categories. All games have a forum category automatically created for them here, though most won't have extensive communities/lots of users. It's become harder to find the link to the forums in our navigation on the main site with each design of the site, and it's not advertised anywhere other than one link in the header and one link in the footer. We don't actively promote or otherwise show "trending forum threads" or anything else that would increase engagement with the forums on the main site.We (as staff) don't engage with users as much as we used to or as much as we should. We (as staff) don't actively empower "positive" influences in the community, though many negative ones have thankfully left of their own accord. There has been a well documented shift from forums as the main discussion medium on the internet to Reddit and Discord, as evidenced by many game devs (in our opinion, wrongly) removing their forums in favour of Discord and social media. Bethesda is a big example of that. We're taking steps to alleviate quite a few of these issues over the next 6 months, so stay tuned. These forums may be old, but, they still WORK. They are searchable, (though the site search engine needs some attention....) and all the info here is relatively permanent. Discord can't make that claim, thus, I agree that it is a terrible alternative to forums. Reddit? No thanks, I'll pass..... :D The forums are set up fairly logically, and once you learn your way around, finding what you are looking for is not an ordeal. Folks just need to be aware of how the forums are structured, but, can't be bothered to figure that out on their own...... Which I don't think you folks can do anything about... I see the 'shift' from forums, to Reddit and discord as a "fad". The beth site is pretty much dead now, since they canned their forums. NONE of the 'old hands' are there any more. That is a LOT of knowledge/wisdom that beth simply thumbed their noses at, and is now dispersed to other sites, if they are even still active at all. Finding them is challenging, to say the least. But, on the 'not-so-good' side, the attitude here toward mod authors has changed since the sites inception, and in my opinion, not for the better. I agree with a fair few of the Points the sharp stick guy brought up..... Do I expect anything to change though? Nope. -
I absolutely hate jumping into a new system, hearing the pirates/bounty hunters/spacers/va'ruun folks start talking about how they are going to kill me, but, the banner telling me where I am is covering half my targeting circle, forcing me to wait for it to dissipate before I can really get into combat. This tends to give the opponents several seconds to target me, and start shooting, before I can even see them. Highly annoying. Would love to see that banner either shrunk down, or moved to the TOP of the screen, so it is not right smack in the middle of my screen.....

none of my mods seem to work at all
HeyYou replied to Thunderbreaker13's topic in Starfield's Discussion
There are a couple different tricks to make mods work in the games data folder, (as opposed to the one in My Games...) All it takes is changing a few lines in the ini file, nuking the data folder in my games, and down the road you go. There is also an SFSE plugin that accomplishes the same thing, though I have no clue how that one works..... Installing mods to my operating system drive just isn't going to happen. That was an incredibly bad idea on beths part. I am sure it has some advantages..... (if you wanted to nuke all your mods... there they are.....) but, no. Just. No. I have a 2TB drive for my games, I have a 500gb drive for my O/S, filling that up with mods is just stupid. Wonder how much of an effort it would require to simply move the 'my games' folder, to the games drive? That would work as well.... but, the community needs to decide on a single 'fix', so that everyone is on the same page. But they are just that - tricks, workarounds, and hacks, meant to do something in a manner that is against the purposeful file structure which has been setup by Bethesda (with input from Microsoft, no doubt), for personal preferences that have nothing to do with actual and purely technical reasons - and which, down the road, could lead to potential issues. As such, it cannot and should not be recommended, as advice should be given in a "best practices" manner. If a person, for whatever reason, decides to do something other than what is advised according to best practices, then that is a purely personal decision which that individual should be making being fully aware of the possible consequence, and with the realization that the individual is accepting any and all adverse consequences, and that no help can be given in those situations should things go wrong. The issue is NOT one of the community deciding where to place things according to non-technical opinions based upon likes and dislikes or personal preferences - the issue is, rather, that this is the way the game's file structure has been set up to function, and, as such, no matter how much people might prefer it to be different, unless that decision and change were to come from Bethesda (and, possibly, Microsoft), the community and individuals just needs to accustom themselves to it. Anyway - further discussion should take place in another thread, so as not to derail Thunderbreaker's topic. (Though, under the circumstance, I have nothing to add - it is what it is, and likes or dislikes won't change it - only Bethesda and/or Microsoft can or should.) Well that's just it though. There aren't any known 'best practices' for starfield yet. And a fair bit of the time, 'best practices' are simply a matter of opinion. Every previous game on this engine would load from the data folder in the game install directory. It worked perfectly, and did not clutter up your O/S drive with gigabytes of mods. If you only have one drive, then all well and good, but, for the folks that have a separate drive for their games, installing mods to the user profile folders defeats the primary purpose of having that second drive. The game works perfectly loading from the data directory in the game install location, which doesn't come as a surprise at all. Quite honestly, I expect the game simply doesn't care where that directory is, and moving it to the user profile was someones' "bright idea", that was not based on any technical reasoning. More than likely, there WASN'T a technical reason for doing so, the programmer was simply told: "Put the mods directory here." and that was it. The game loads ALL of it's other assets from there, why are mods different? Looking at all the previous games, I can't see ANY technical advantage/reasoning for putting them elsewhere, aside from make it REAL easy to simply remove ALL of your mods, without blowing away the entire game/data folder. -
