  1. If you have windows do the disk check on reboot, it really doesn't tell you anything... It runs thru it, then starts windows. Bring the machine up in the 'recovery mode'.... Click on the start button, then hold the Shift key while clicking on 'restart'. Bring the machine up with command prompt only, run chkdsk from there, and you will actually be able to read if it finds anything odd. Prolly wouldn't hurt to run SFC after that as well.
  2. What browser are you using? What extensions do you have installed?
  3. Video doesn't load for me. Just get the little swirly, and that's it.
  4. You can also sort by last update, or when it was uploaded....
  5. Hhhmmm... The 1392 error generally implies file corruption... I am not entirely sure Vortex subscribes to the same definition. Try and start vortex, let it fail, then check event viewer, and see what it has to say.
  6. There is also going to be a Fallout4 folder in C:\Users\username\appdata\ That's where the plugins.txt file lives. Might try using revo uninstaller portable to remove ALL traces of both programs, and try again. (hope you have a fast internet connection. :) )
  7. Open an elevated command prompt. Type in: sfc /scannow Let it complete. If it finds and fixes files, run it again, until is doesn't find any more. Reboot. See if Vortex works now.
  8. Load order is determined by the order the mods appear in the plugins.txt file in C:\Users\*Username*\AppData\Fallout4. Load order is descending. Loose files will override everything else. (and I don't think any plugin is required for those......) What would be nice, is Vortex having the capability to export your installed mod list, (regardless of if there is an esp/esl/esm file associated) with pure texture mods (basically, mods that don't require an esp, etc) shown last. So far as I know, Vortex doesn't do that trick, yet. :D
  9. Older mods aren't necessarily 'outdated'..... Still just a matter of preference. :) A few of the mods I run haven't been updated in quite some time, but, they still work, and that's all I really care about. :D
  10. I do the IT thing for a living, so problems like this bring out my OCD... *Usually*, I can find a solution on the web.. but, not always. Then it's follow general suggestions, and see what works. Sometimes I get lucky.... sometimes.... I don't. :D This time, I got lucky.
  11. Ok, Think I have this solved. Not much out there on the web for solutions, but, here's what I did. Deleted MSVCR110.dll from fallout folder. Verify Game Cache via Steam. Found and fixed two files. (though it didn't tell me WHICH files.....) Ran system file checker from an elevated command prompt. (sfc /scannow) SFC found and fixed files. Ran it again, didn't find any more. Restarted my machine. Started steam, fired off the game from my shortcut to F4SE_loader. Game seems to run fine now.
  12. Tried uninstalling/reinstalling the VC 2012. (32 and 64 bit....) Nope. Still crashes. So far as I know, I have no mods that should affect this particular bit of the game.
  13. I get thru the conversation with gauge, but, shortly thereafter, the game just closes. Event Viewer says MSVCR110.dll is the problem... Looking online, suggestions are to repair/reinstall VC 2012 from the Steamapps\whatever folder. I ran the repair, and the game went a little bit longer, but still crashed, with the same dll being the problem. I found a thread from years ago, with the same problem, the poster 'fixed' it, but, DID NOT say HOW he fixed it.... Gonna try a reinstall, and see what happens, but, in case that doesn't work, looking for other suggestions.
  14. Not a fan of third person..... I like to absorb myself into the character, and staring over his/her shoulder, doesn't do that for me.
  15. Especially if you use another browser. :) With windows 11, right-clicking on the task bar doesn't always give the option for task manager.... So, ctrl+alt+del brings up the menu, open task manager. If it doesn't have the tabs across the top, click on the 'more info' link at the bottom.... (I think in 11, you don't have to do that.) Go to the startup tab. (in 11, it's icons down the side, hover over them, and they will tell you what they are.) Find Edge, right click on it, and then select "disabled". Edge will still work, should you need it, but, it won't start with windows any more.
  16. Edge will whine, and on a lot of machines, actually is set to start with windows...... That said, edge is just Microsoft Chrome... (as Brave is just someone elses version of chrome....) Chrome is better supported.... That said, I use FireFox, as I don't care for MS, and I don't particularly care for google either. Just a matter of who do you want your browser reporting to. Brave may claim is doesn't send any data, but, that is false. EVERY browser reports back to mama. Just, which mama do you distrust the least. :D
  17. Last Base Change is Horizon... Which strikes me as REALLY odd.....
  18. Well, I would think that if staff says "No, ya can't do that." There won't be any problems....... Of course, Nexus is more concerned about the legal aspect of it all, and I am not sure if any precedent has been set yet.
  19. Really need staff to weigh in on this......
  20. For the most part, Vortex handles load order pretty good. If you have things like texture mods, with overlap, you would need to address that, to make sure you get the textures you want in-game. (whatever loads last, wins.)
  21. On the plugins page for the game, the DLC should be listed, I don't have options to enable/disable them, however, they do show an index for load order. Do yours? (mine also show as locked, and cannot be managed.)
  22. If you can launch the game directly via the exe, just make a shortcut for it, and run from there. The launcher doesn't do anything special.
  23. Wow. I thought it was gonna be first quarter, or first half.... No huh? Ah well. Here's hoping it is worth the wait. :)
