Looking for Some Troubleshooting Love
HeyYou replied to FullTimePatriot's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
Try running without spring cleaning. -
Most of the wires you can actually scrap with Scrap Everything, it is just REALLY difficult to find the sweetspot so you can actually scrap it. Some, I simply can't find that spot, so, I use the console to disable them.

Make the game more exciting at higher levels?
HeyYou replied to YouDoNotKnowMyName's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
If you want to make the game more interesting, at ALL levels..... :) Install PANPC, turn it on, increase the number of spawns you get, increase the chances of spawns in various areas, turn off the level scaling of spawns, and install something like Modern Firearms. You get NPC's with better weapons, better AI, and more of them. Be careful with it though, as it is possible to make spawns so thick, you are CONSTANTLY in combat. :) It doesn't add any quests, or even change any.... but it sure makes combat more interesting. :) NPC's are better armed, and quite a bit smarter...... at low levels, they can have weapons that will one-shot you right quick. Of course, you can find those weapons as well. I Highly recommend a merged patch (via xEdit, minus the leveled lists, and a bashed patch specifically for the leveled lists.). Gives a better distribution of weapons. It significantly changes how you play. You have to be MUCH more careful, and pay closer attention to what is going on around you, or you end up dead, before you even know there is someone else around. Enemies, including ghouls... will try and flank you. A moments inattention can mean your death. A lot like in 'real' combat. I know just those two mods made my game a LOT more interesting to play. :) Even at higher levels. I STILL run into enemies that have the skull next to their name. (meaning that are higher level than I am, by a good stretch.) With spawns turned up some, you may run into two or three of them in a single encounter..... And that doesn't even bring in the aspect of NPC's calling in reinforcements. :) -
For me, Trumps issues are the lesser of the two evils. And there is no scenario I can think of that would prompt me to want to vote for ANY democrat at this point..... I REALLY don't care for their stance on various issues. IS there any unity left? It sure doesn't look that way. We have divisions by race, and by politics..... neither side is willing to compromise. Both sides think the other side is insane. Both sides think their way is the only way, and the other guys don't know what they are talking about. (and worse....) We have riots and looting, organizations that are supposedly 'peaceful' calling for attacks on police. etc. There is no common ground for us all to come together around. Nobody trusts anybody else. Unfortunately, I see things only getting worse. Not better. And the dems 'plan' to bring us all back together, won't. It will only serve to divide us further.
-
There was a time when you could trust politicians? When was that??? I sure don't remember it. :)
-
Usually, that's a missing master crash.....
-
Scrap Everything will allow you to do exactly that, scrap everything...... Of course, it is rather indiscriminate, and WILL allow you to scrap everything....... and if you scrap the wrong thing, there is no "UnDo" function..... Though I think I saw that particular feature in another mod...... There are also the various 'clean' mods. In which all the various things you can't normally scrap, are already gone.

Any one know what affects npc/follower aggro range?
HeyYou replied to dbv3ddd's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
Pretty sure there is a setting for that... but, no idea what it's called, as even companions that are SUPPOSED to be companions, don't aggro at ranges I typically snipe at. -
I suppose it depends on how deeply you want to dig into the technicalities and semantics of the whole thing. :) But, in essence, I DO agree with you, "DLC" implies official content, "Mods" implies 'unofficial' content.

so you really try to tell me, that it was better to elect an - as you say - idiot than hillary and you still think after his election this was the right decision ? a man, who should better be kept off from social media - as you also say - and now president of the u.s.? this man is now supreme commander of the u.s. forces and can lauch atomic missiles and you think it is a good idea to trust him more just not be govmed by a democratic politcian like hillary clinton or joe biden ? i will never understand the logic of americans like you arguing this way. it sounds to me like if i can chose between "not so good" and "egoistic and dangerous" it is better to chose "egoistic and dangerous". Hilary has issues all her own, that make her, what I consider, a MUCH worse candidate than Trump. Some of her campaign points were diametrically opposed to my beliefs as well, so, I could NOT in good conscience vote for her. Also, gotta remember, there are a LOT of checks and balances on the president, he cannot launch nukes on a whim..... He also campaigned on getting us OUT of our assorted foreign wars. (as did Obama, I might add.....) but, we are still there. At least he hasn't gotten into any more of them, as Obama did.

No, it is not. Because precisely the difference between a mod and a dlc, by every single definition I have ever seen, is who provides it, as you said at the begining. Or, in other words, if it's official or not. And that's the definition widely used and understood except in this niche of people which insist on calling CC mods. The size is not a factor, because it makes no sense for it to be. I would remind everyone again of CDPR's so called "Free DLC's" for TW3 which are quite tiny and which I haven't seen anyone have a problem with the naming. Interestingly sometimes their big DLCs are called "Expansion packs" instead to differentiate them which is perfecly fine. There's also Morrowind, which had some small "Plugins" and then the "Expansions" both official. The plugins were small, not called mods. And you could also look at massive mods which are still mods. Call the pip-boy skins microtransactions if it makes you more comfortable than calling them dlcs but calling them mods is just incorrect. Everyone calls the Atom Shop in FO76 microtransactions, again, not mods. This has nothing to do with it being good or bad or worth the money or the official support being better than unofficial supports or with my or anyone's opinion of it. It's simply about using language that actually makes sense and is consistent and people understand what you are refering to. Calling them "mods" ignores fundamental differences for no reason because there's increadibly better terms for it, like "Small DLCs", there, no confusion whatsoever. Everyone is going to understand it as official content provided by the publisher that's smaller than what you'd expect as a "DLC", particulary a DLC from Bethesda, which you expect to be an "Expansion". Or if you want to add some negative connotation then go for "Microtransactions". Everyone is going to understand what it is. If you call them mods they actually won't. If you call them mods you create a plethora of misunderstanding like I have personally seen in reddit on ridiculous amounts. Most people in this community don't have the slightest idea of what they are talking about when it comes to Creation Club. You get people describing Creation Club as if it was the so-called "paid mods 1.0", saying things like existing mods being put behing a paywall, or talking of the percentage the modder gets, asuming there's no involvement by Bethesda, and all sorts of misinformation being thrown about it, that all stems from the fact that people have been using inaccurate language to describe it. And so people that don't do any research at all before opening their big mouth are confused, get the wrong impression and continue the cycle of spreading misinformation. Of course, and this is with my tin-foil hat on, perhaps the people who insist on callling it mods want precisely that, to have misinformed people that can be easily manipulated into thinking negatively about it to push their agenda of hatred. That would be pretty reprehensible, wouldn't it? Ok, color me confused. I said: The only difference between a 'mod', and a 'dlc', is who is providing it, apparently..... Then you said: No, it is not. Immediately followed by: Because precisely the difference between a mod and a dlc, by every single definition I have ever seen, is who provides it, So, aren't we agreeing here????? So far as I know, there are NO hard and fast definitions for mods vs. dlc. There is what the community accepts, but, not even everyone can agree on that. Folks use the terms interchangeably. Are they wrong? Who decides. The content beth releases, modifies the game. Therefore, they are mods. The content everyone else releases, modifies the game, therefore they are mods. You download the content from whatever source, therefore, it is ALL 'downloadable content'. Beth likes to call their stuff "DLC", the non-paid authors, call their content "mods", you can get both mods, and dlc from beths site. Am I intentional trying to confuse the issue? Nope. Do I 'hate' anything about it? Nope. Do I use anything from Beth's site? Nope.

Merging mods gets tricky..... If the mod also loads a bsa, or ba2 file for its assets..... then you would need to rename those as well, to the same name as your merged esp file, but, if you have multiple bsa/ba2 files, things get more complicated. There is likely a video on youtube for just such an occasion though. :D

I need some help to install Northern Springs for Fallout 4.
HeyYou replied to daspunner's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
Hhhmmm... It *looks* like a pretty straightforward install. Just put the files in the right spot, there are not 'options' that require sorting thru, and no dependencies either..... Are you installing manually? Or using some mod manager? Did you do the ini edits for archive invalidation? -
You should (yeah, *should*) be able to click and hold on the map, and drag it around. Mouse wheel should zoom in/out. Is that not working? If not, check 'controls' in the game settings, and make sure things are as they should be.

I don't get how picking members from the community to make content for them, is comparable to monetization of mods. The two are only related if you intrinsically believe DLC are mods, which we've already established per definition they aren't. Otherwise the Creation Club, is just the name of the system they have in place for contracting third parties to create content for them. It just so happens that members of the community can submit applications to become a part of that group. They are technically cherry-picking for the best people who can make content for them in the same way that employers cherry-pick for who they hire from a pool of applicants. However, I doubt they are going around cherry-picking nexus or bethesda.net profiles, maybe for the initial release of the Creation Club, but not now. The only difference between a 'mod', and a 'dlc', is who is providing it, apparently..... To me, 'dlc', is 'downloadable content', isn't that exactly what Nexus is providing as well? There are 'mods' here on nexus, that are as large, (if not larger) than some of the 'dlc' officially released by beth. Calling Pip-Boy skins "dlc" just seems wrong to me. That's just a mod. Sure, it's an 'official' mod, but, a mod none-the-less. In all reality, I think folks get better support for mods they download here, than what beth calls 'support'....... As I see it, beth provides 'official content', Nexus hosts 'unofficial content'. Both are modifications of the game. Both are downloadable content. Beth gets to charge for their content, and the folks that create it, are actually being paid to do so. Content hosted here has neither of those. (for the most part.... but that's a whole 'nother kettle of fish.... ) As for the whole 'monetization' thing, this is a previously untapped market. (by beth at least....) It is a revenue stream that has an initial cost, and then everything after that is pure profit. Beth is going to need the infrastructure for it in any event, so, might just as well have it generate some revenue as well. This was the whole idea behind beth moving from the old forums, to the new. Integration with their new revenue stream. But then, this is Beths second attempt at paid mods. Their first attempt cost them nothing, required none of their infrastructure, and exactly zero effort on their part. They just said "yes", and then all they needed to do was sit back, and watch the money roll in. I suspect that would have been more profitable for Beth than the current incarnation, but, that's just a guess, I have no hard numbers to back it up. The only reason the first round didn't work, is because Valve chickened out. The Vocal minority got up in arms, and scared them. So, they pulled the plug. Which was unfortunate, as I think (and again, this is just my opinion) that the authors would have gotten a better deal on Paid Mods 1.0....

Read up on some of the background prior to the shooting. It seems that crime was indeed a problem there. And Zim was the Neighborhood watch coordinator. He saw someone in a GATED community he did not recognize, and proceeded to check him out. And so it went. In the end, Zimmerman was acquitted. The justice department didn't file any further charges, due to a lack of evidence. That should have been the end of the story....... Obama made sure it wasn't. Yep, I accepted a loon, instead of a crooked politician, that had priorities FAR different than mine, so I voted for someone that was more in line with the direction I wanted to see the country go. You know, democracy in action. Even though we aren't really a democracy........

Nah, Trump really IS an idiot. But, he is an idiot with a lot of money, and he occasionally does things right. If we could keep him off social media, he would be a better "appearing" president. :) Trump got elected because: 1. He isn't a politician. And 2. The dems ran Hilary. If they had ran just about anyone else, the dems would have won. Ya also gotta understand the political situation in the US. Some folks will vote along party lines, even when they KNOW it isn't a good idea. The whole "My party, right or wrong." thing, is a real problem here. Of course, there are folks on the other side of the aisle that are exactly the same..... Trayvon was in the wrong place, at the wrong time, through no fault of his own. Do you think he would still be dead if he had simply stopped, and talked calmly with Zimmerman? Yeah, Zim should have listened to what the dispatcher had to say...... but, his neighborhood, and he was part of the neighborhood watch. I don't know what the crime rate around there was like, so, I am not going to play monday morning quarterback, and second guess his actions. People STILL question his origins. I find it highly amusing. The conspiracy theorists are still going on about it. If there had been ANY credibility to the claims, he never would have been elected in the first place. Obamacare, misnamed the 'affordable care act', was anything but, for a large number of folks. Sure, according to theory, a couple million people got insurance. With 10,000 dollar deductibles..... and VERY particular about what they actually covered........ which wasn't much. Folks that already had insurance, so their rates start going up. Something else Obama said wouldn't happen. And lets not forget "You can keep your doctor." Which also turned out not to be true. The ACA was written by the Insurance industry. Is it any wonder it was a moneymaker for them, and pretty much useless for everyone else? The part that I found the MOST ludicrous was, in order to have qualifying insurance under the ACA, I would have to have pregnancy coverage. I am male. I am thinkin', if I get pregnant, insurance is going to be the least of my concerns. (not to mention I am in my late 50's........ so, not childbearing age in any event.) Obama got elected because americans didn't want war with Iran. Which Romney seemed to be a big advocate of. Not to mention being tired of the republicans getting into other 'wars'...... we simply didn't want any more. But, we got them anyway. Yemen, Syria, Libya...... So, it seemed that Obama, while technically a Democrat, continued most of the republican foreign policy choices. Accept when he was apologizing to other nations for those same policies...... Don't get me wrong. I voted for him. Twice. For the very same reason I voted for Trump. He was the lesser of two evils. We would have recovered from the recession regardless of who won the whitehouse though. Would someone else have doubled our national debt to do it though? We will never know. All in all, politics in the US are well and truly screwed up. We 'accept' a loon for president, and he has a higher approval rating than congress. Of course, that isn't all that hard. Congress hasn't broken 30% approval in decades. For a while, it was under 10%, but, we still kept electing the same folks that we KNEW FOR A FACT were NOT doing the job we elected them to do. Sure, we have some pretty smart individuals here in the US, but, taken collectively? We got nothin' on a box of rocks. :D

The idea here, is to see if AWKCR is the issue, or one of the mods that requires it........
-
Is there a way to count all enabled mods at once via ac vortex hotkey? scanning... finding enabled files... two hundred and seventy five; most of them being armor tweaks, weapon mods, weapon mod mods, and of course; whispering hills. And there ya go. There is a hard limit of 255 esp/esm files, and that includes the base game, and any dlcs you may have. ESL files do NOT count however. If you are still over 255, then you need to prune some mods from your load list, or merge some of the smaller ones into one file.

Fallout 4 frame drops and other problems
HeyYou replied to ELIT3SD's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
In the windows 'Search' box, type in sched Task scheduler should be one of the top results. Just look at the stuff on the main page of "Task Scheduler Library", in the left-hand column. Scheduled tasks will be in the right pane. See what all is in there, and if it actually needs to happen on the schedule that it set up. Adobe is notorious for having their updater check for updates like every 10 minutes or so, while you are logged in. That's just idiotic...... Most apps check for updates when you start them up in any event.... so, I generally kill any and all updaters in task scheduler. Don't worry about any of the other sections. Some of that stuff NEEDS to be in there, or windows gets offended. :D -
Trayvon Martin springs to mind as one example. Here we have a young adult (I think he was 17 or 18??) that had an unfortunate encounter with an armed man. The armed man did not shoot him until Trayvon was pounding his head against the concrete. Who gets vilified? The Victim, that fired in self-defense. Obama's reaction? "If I had a son, he would look like Trayvon." So, Obama took the side of the black guy, even though the "White" (latino) guy was fully justified in pulling the trigger. There are other incidents as well, but, I am not going to detail each and every one here. Look it up, it's out there on the web. Probably on some "list" site....... I won't vote democrat because I don't like the direction they want to take america, not because I simply don't like them. (and no, I really did NOT like Hilary as a person either......) Is Trump any better? Probably not, BUT, I agree with most of his politics, which I cannot say for the dems. Is Trump an idiot? You bet. He most certainly is NOT a politician, which is the primary reason he got elected in the first place.
-
Obama did more to divide the races than all of the presidents before him. He was merely the catalyst that started the reaction we see going on now. That, and the dems just kept moving further and further left..... A fair few folks, me included, didn't so much vote FOR Trump, as they voted AGAINST Hilary. I expect to see the same trend later this year, when we once again go to the ballot box. I simply cannot stand some of the positions that the dems are advocating for, and I will not vote for a candidate that supports those positions. Granted, the Republicans have some positions that I don't agree with as well, but, they are MUCH fewer, and don't directly affect me. (I don't see myself needing an abortion any time soon...... being male...... and almost 60.... odds of me getting pregnant are less than zero. :) ) So, as it stands now, I am NOT going to vote for Biden...... Who does that leave?
