Fallout 4 crash to desktop in specific area
HeyYou replied to TOExHEAD's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
Need to see what mods you are running. -
The fallout series of games are based on the 1950s world view...... Trying to remove that from the game is going to be a serious exercise..... :D
-
I doubt it will have any effect on the site at all.
-
Thing is, the whole purpose of the Railroad is to 'save synths from the slavery', or some such. They do that by basically killing them and creating a new person. That doesn't help the original personality at all, they are dead. That's it. No more memories at all for that personality. They are simply saving the body. Which the institute can produce more of at will......
-
Probably best to NOT merge mods that use external resources, for just this reason.
-
For mods with an installer script, I find mod managers almost a necessity.... especially for those with lots of options...... trying to do those manually gives me a headache. :D

I generally played stealth-based character, with magic as well. Along with my dwarven crossbow, I rather enjoyed it. Later, when I was actually doing mods for Morrowind, I made myself my 'Van Helsing Crossbow"... Selective fire... Single shot, 3 round burst, or full auto. That was FUN.... I walked into the Dark Brotherhood sanctuary, and in the room where there were about a dozen of 'em, I put my cbow on full auto, swept the room once, and they were all dead. I SOOOOOOO enjoyed that. :D I think that one is still on Morrowind Modding History somewhere. :) At least, I hope it is, as I don't seem to be able to find my copy any more. I suspect it is on one of the loose HDD's I have laying about.... But, that's likely an IDE drive, and I don't have anything to plug it into any more. :D

According to theory, the synth gets a choice on if they are mind-wiped or not. Most are convinced that it is a 'good idea', for 'security' reasons. (hard to give away that you are a synth, if you don't even know yourself.....) But, the mere fact that you CAN wipe their memories, and then install whatever you want, leads me to view them just as organic machines. Can the same thing be done to a *real* human? I don't have any info on that. I know it's possible to download their memories, and install them in a synth, is the reverse possible? I don't recall seeing that documented anywhere.... (but, I haven't really looked for it either.) But yeah, wiping their memories essentially "kills" the synth, and uploading new memories creates a new 'person'..... So, are they really helping? Not in my opinion.

Yeah, storage space has gotten dirt cheap. Even SSD's have gotten pretty cheap. So, no reason NOT to hang on to mods you download. Especially those that you won't play without. :D
-
If you aren't using any of the CC stuff, remove all that content from the data folder. (might try removing it all anyway, and see if behavior changes.) I think what you are experiencing is a missing master crash. If you are using a mod manager, it *should* highlight mods with missing masters.......
-
Didn't someone already do that???? Thought I saw something like that in the not so distant past...... That said, I wouldn't have the first clue how to go about setting that up...... in 3, it was hard coded into the game.....
-
So is it consistently crashing as you approach settlements? I would be looking at any settlement modifying mods in that case.
-
I like NMM better for one simple reason. I can move a mod to anywhere I want in the load order, without having to set up rules, or fuss with some program moving OTHER stuff to make it look like it is obeying my rules......
-
They were AWESOME for improving your archery skill. :D I would go LOOKING for them, just to get some target practice. :D
-
I think you can only wear one ring..... and I haven't found any others in-game......

Need help sorting my mod list in Mod Organizer
HeyYou replied to BroWseR55's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
Merging has issues all it's own. :) Gotta be careful with that. You can download the standalone version of loot. I dont think it really cares how many plugins you have, it just sorts them, and lets you deal with the rest. :D -
NMM utilizes profiles as well.
-
Are you using a mod manager to uninstall them? If it all started after you installed 'one mod', I would be looking REAL hard at that one mod. Make sure no trace of it is left in your data folder.

Beth is notorious for violating THEIR OWN canon....... and just sorta making stuff up as they go along. Like the 'levitation act' that banned levitation in Oblivion.... when they went to cities that were in their own worldspace... so, you couldn't just levitate over the walls, and be in the city. (my favorite form of 'fast travel' in Morrowind was a ring of levitation, with invisibility on it as well. Just call me "Scourge of the Cliffracers." :) )

Need help sorting my mod list in Mod Organizer
HeyYou replied to BroWseR55's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
Well, first problem you are going to have, is you have dramatically exceeded the hard limit of 255 files. Unless about 90 of those are .esl files, it simply isn't going to work. -
I use scrap everything, and have it load dead last. Works fine. May be the same issue with spring cleaning. Load it last, see if it helps.

Install the required files first, then install that one.

Some folks disagree with what the unofficial patch team deem 'bugs', and Arthmoor simply isn't open to any discussion about it. At all. So, if they find things in it they don't like, they either change them themselves, don't use the patch at all, or look for a patch for the patch, that undoes those changes. (something else that appears to annoy arthmoor.....) I don't like some of the changes it makes, so, I don't use it in FO4.
