See, I have a slightly different take on that. I think EVERY weapon/armor should be availble right from the get-go. Of course, that also means that the NPC's ALSO have a chance of having those weapons/armors...... I find the whole idea of 'level scaling' to be abhorrent. Beth really took it to extremes in Oblivion.... the entire world scaled with the player. Regardless of where you went. I played for about 45 minutes, and hated it. Leveling was pointless. I didn't play again until a couple years later, when FCOM came out. The ENTIRE world was instantly unleveled. You could find any enemy, anywhere, sorta..... The further you got from civilization/roads, the meaner the enemies got, regardless of what level you were. It was possible to run into enemies that were 30+ levels beyond you. (and yes, they would make very short work of you.) THAT made the game fun to play again. You actually had to be careful. I would love to see someone come up with something like that for Fallout. Make the world a whole lot more dangerous.

Check out the AA-12, full auto shotgun. Skip ahead to about Six minutes to see it in action. :D Recoil on that appears to be very mild. (for a shotgun.....)

Oh, there are other crimes that carry the death penalty.... Treason..... for one. (and how many companies have sold technology to our enemies.....) There are also assorted crimes that if caught in the act, the use of deadly force is authorized. (rape, for instance.) How many communities have been raped by corporations. Of course, Union Carbide would have been a PRIME candidate for the death penalty. They wiped out (literally killed) 15000 people in india, thru negligence.

How to check mod version without mod manager?
HeyYou replied to KeijiHaku's topic in Hardware and software discussion
If you are installing the latest and greatest version of the game, then you need the latest and greatest version of the script extender as well. -
It relates back to politics...... and the Citizens United decision. I will believe a corporation is a 'person' shortly after Texas executes one. As they are most certainly NOT 'people', they have no individual rights. They have no free speech, and they should not be donating to politicians. If I had to pick one single thing, that spelled doom for the american way of life, that particular Supreme Court decision would be it. We already had the best government money could buy, that decision simply made it legal.

Well, this caught my eye: OS Install Date: Jan 01 1970 Really now? Have you been time traveling again? Now you know the time lords told you to stop doing that....... :) I am not seeing anything in there that should cause the problem. I wish I could find the thread that I found the 'fix' in, but, no such luck. I will keep trying.

Corrupt (?) Savegame upon entering specific map region
HeyYou replied to Metazolid's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
A fair bit of it is luck of the draw. Some folks never have issues with them. I have seen others that even loading ONE quicksave, and their game is toast. I learned not to trust them playing Morrowind...... and old habits die hard. :D Makes no sense as a quicksave is exactly the same as a regular save. The only thing it does is overwrite. If you got a bonky computer/harddrive then yea that might cause issues. In terms of what the quicksave is. There's litterally no difference with a normal save. Exactly. Theoretically, there shouldn't be a problem. In reality, a significant percentage of folks reported problems. Did they all have 'wonky' computers/hdds? Odds of that are pretty low. That's where the luck comes into it. If yours isn't good, you end up with problems, same as overwriting the same save file over and over again. Every previous beth game has suffered from the same problem. (well, all of them using the gamebryo engine......) -
I experience that one too...... I kept wondering why I was dying all the time.... Until I realized that the 'explosive' effect has an AoE, so if the enemies get close enough to you, you take damage from it as well...... That was an embarrassing moment. :D

That's right, the submachine gun. Thank You. Naaaaah, I'll keep the pancor. Other than no real sighting options, I like the model a lot better, and the sounds are just sooo much bettah! You could always fire up the cs, or FO4Edit, and point the combat shotgun at the sounds for the pancor. :D

Paladin Danse. Like? Dislike? Please discuss.
HeyYou replied to StormWolf01's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
The BoS likes to pretend to lofty goals, but, do they actually help anyone other than themselves? Nope. They charge you with gathering supplies, and they really don't care how you get them. I find them to be arrogant, egotistical, narcissistic pricks, and I take great pleasure in making them dead. Knight Rhys (Rheis??) ticks me off the first time I meet anyone from the BoS, Danse keeps referring to me as "civilian", even though I am a Vet, and probably have just as much, if not more, combat experience than he does...... Does he ask about that? Nope. The only question about my past that ever comes from him is "are you from around here?". That's it. No questioning why a 'civilian' would wade in to a battle where there is essentially one guy (albeit, in power armor....) taking on a couple dozen ghouls. The odds are terrible, yet, the 'civilian' comes in anyway, and does a reasonable job of helping out. (assuming you don't get killed. :) ) Danse just accepts it at face value. Suspicious as he is........ Is this the whole 'don't look a gift horse in the mouth' type of thing? -
Minuteman vs. Railroad play through ****Spoilers**** (duh)
HeyYou replied to Wolfskin75's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
Isn't the quest to take out the railroad done before the BoS??? Or is it optional which order you do it in? (I have only done an institute playthrough once......) -
To quote a line from the Movie "Heavy Metal"..... She ain't gotta talk for what I wanna do with her...... Of course, shortly after he uttered that line, the speaker was a head shorter...... :D Gotta remember, the raiders wouldn't really care what she had to say, they would do whatever they wanted anyway, and leave her to wallow in her own misery. Once I get them to sanctuary, I just assign them to farming, and ignore them. Once sanctuary is up and running, I only go back to visit Preston anyway. (I like the experience points......) I have mods that prevent settlement attacks, and Preston can only give me one quest at a time. (when I turn one in, he can give me another.) Of course, through the course of the game, you run across settlements that Preston has NOT given you a quest for, and if you help them, or even so much as talk to them, (and get their quest....) then when you go to turn it in, Preston gives you one, along with the one you get for turning in the quest he DID give you.... So I still end up with numerous quests from that idiot. I think once the castle is secured, he stops giving quests for a bit?? I think??? That may be a mod as well.

Well, considering the Brotherhood, and the Railroad, have basically diametrically opposed positions on Synths, that really shouldn't come as a surprise. :D -
It's called a DVR. :) I am waiting for an ad-blocker for smart TV's. :D I just don't watch broadcast television any more. Anything I want to watch will eventually show up on some streaming service or other, sans commercials.

Are you sure you haven't been thru it already?? Any mods affecting that area of Boston?
-
Yeah, trying to go pure melee in a world where folks carry around miniguns really isn't a great idea. :) And I really don't think there is a better 'close quarters' weapon than the combat shotgun. Even in semi-auto mode, it can deal out a huge amount of damage in pretty short order. (with the two-shot legendary, it is just farking unbeatable....)
-
The vanilla answer to the Pancor Jackhammer was the combat shotgun. You can mod it to a 32 round drum magazine. I don't think it has the high rate of fire that the Pancor does though, but, that's an easy tweak in FO4Edit. :D That, and I think there actually IS an "Explosive Combat Shotgun" laying around, or for sale somewhere. (Libertalia? Vault 81??? Don't remember.)

Not quoting simply because it's getting too long. :) In any event, I disagree. Anger is a reaction to a stimulus. Some stimuli will be more provocative than others. Different people have different tolerance levels for anger/reaction, but, there generally is ALWAYS some reaction. Stepping on one guys foot may get a comment. Stepping on some others guy foot may get you shot. Saying the wrong thing to someone can evoke similar varied responses. It's all in how much BS you are willing to tolerate. As I said, some folks can tolerate a whole lot more than others. Some folks have no tolerance at all. (and could probably make use of some anger management courses.....) Is it a 'choice'?? As much as pulling your hand out of a fire is a choice. There is no 'one-size-fits-all' definition here. Blanket statements do not belong here, as not everyone is the same. (which is likely part of the problem, but, I can live with that.)

Post your prefs.ini, and custom.ini as well please. :D

Ya and while your at it , you might as well point out that water is wet ... hehe . But am curious what would constitute a society that did not build anything ? Is it a culture that does not exploit or at least very little ? Because the inverse is what I would constitute as not building anything . Which is where I think American society is at , always in Exploit mode. I've changed my mind on America splitting into 2 federal entities being a good thing. At least while I would have to live through the change ... since it would take 10-20ish years of turmoil before we would get a working government for the people out of it. (being the whole reason to do it) So meh ... let the non voting generation deal with it when they decide just looking at their iphones isn't working anymore. And technology is more what I was talking about ... since there are so many life skills that are getting phased out by it . Plus introducing so many new ways of exploit. (not in a good way) At a guess, I would say that the native americans were not exploitative, and most of them didn't really build anything permanent... (there are exceptions....) That would likely to apply to pretty much any nomadic people as well. And their lifestyle didn't change for thousands of years, and even then, it was because of an outside influence. (spanish introducing horses, europeans taking over the land.....) I'm not a great fan of technological advances as much as I am social progression. Just look at what we do with the tech we have now. We have the internet and look at how many who each day segregate ourselves into our own respective little forums to talk with people who agree with us about those we collectively hate. How much actual thought is needed to regurgitate old prejudices? Are we actually progressing or are we regressing, seeing how many times in the past few years that physical violence has erupted.? How many times have we heard the statement that someone had pissed someone else off when in reality those making these statements let themselves become pissed off. The fact is that no one can make any of us angrey. We let ourselves become angry because of our own assumptions. Admiral Rickover used to interview each candidate for submarine school. One of his tests was "You have 3 seconds to piss me off." This brought about a wide variety of behaviors.... the most effective of which was the guy that immediately grabbed the model submarine on the admirals desk, and promptly smashed it. Needless to say, the admiral was pissed. :D (and the guy got into submarine school.......) So yeah, it is most certainly possible for others actions/words to piss someone off. To deny that, is to deny reality. Humans are emotional animals. There is no getting around that. Sorry, but no. Emotions are feelings and as such can be controlled if control is more important to a person than being controlled. It's all in whats important to you. It's my experience that the less you think of imagery such as being arrogant or placing undue importance on material items the less chance of being effected by others interactions with you. Knowing yourself and loving others in such a way as to endeavor to understand the situation can do wonders at this. Booker T Washington had a very excellent quote " I shall allow no man to belittle my soul by making me hate him." When you are angered, you hate and that's something that can not be gotten around. You either hate what was done or the person doing what was done. Like I said its a value system. Yes, emotions are feelings. And for the most part, they can be controlled. But not 100% of the time. Terribly sorry, but, if you are a human being, and not some variety of sociopath/psychopath, then it is indeed possible for other people to piss you off. In fact, it's rather likely that it will happen to you quite frequently over the course of your life. You may not necessarily REACT, but, it's highly likely various folks have made you angry over the course of your life.... And really, hate doesn't enter into it. Many people have pissed me off over the years. I don't hate them, nor do I hate their actions. I get over it. Just like most other folks.

High agility helps a lot, luck doesn't hurt you either. I never get the top tier sneak perk, as I have other things I would rather spend them on. Weight of your weapon, and armor also make a difference....... (along with line-of-sight, lighting, etc.) But, there are times that you should still be 'findable', regardless of those factors. If I am standing there, and watch three guys heads mysteriously explode....... I am pretty sure there is someone out there causing that to happen, and I am not going to give up looking easily...... (and make comments about maybe doing less jet.......)

Oh, I am well aware that mere photon pressure isn't gonna do squat inside the atmosphere...... Of course, that is in our 'real' world. Now, the FO universe is based on SCIENCE!, so, things are likely a tad bit different...... after all, they developed fusion power quite some time ago.... something we STILL haven't been able to manage. Their tech may 'look' old, but, in someways, it is more advanced than ours..... The topic at discussion here is a prime example, a man-portable directed energy weapon, that actually works. And then we have plasma rifles...... Of course, we could get into the whole discussion about why an energy 'bolt', and not a beam? And a whole host of other nitpics, but, as has been said already in this thread.... It's a video game. :) So they don't really need a reason to do it. Simply 'it looks cool' is reason enough. (even if we don't think it does. :) )
