  1. Nope, that's a false analogy. Nexus IS a private site, and therefore has the option to censor content they deem inappropriate. But AFAIK Robyn has never tried to claim that The Nexus, despite it's size, popularity, dare I say even ubiquitousness within the modding community, be exempt from any laws or rules pertaining to content shared here. An no I do not believe anything should be censored from a "public" forum. (forum in the olde sense of being a free community discussion zone) Even if that content might be considered by some to be unacceptable or even evil, that too is necessary! And NO! There is no "line" Who decides what the "line" is? Society itself decides if they "choose" to view such things. A perfect example is "American" culture. Violence, particularly human against human is perfectly acceptable in media. Watch many "American" TV shows, and innocent people are butchered and murdered by the dozen. From innocent bystanders, to security guards, to "street cops". And no one raises an eyebrow. But show even a single butt cheek or ...<shock> boob, and people run screaming into the streets. Or take the "C" word (denoting a part of female anatomy) It's virtually NEVER heard in American media, it's one of "those" words that simply isn't even thought. Yet here in Australia, it's generally considered nothing more than a polite form of address or it's used as an "emphasis" word. The point is that no matter how ... horrific ... some image or word/s seem today, there is no guarantee that it will remain so for ever, and the ONLY way to progress is for those things to BE SEEN or BE HEARD in order for "society" to decide for themselves. Without that you create "echo chambers" with "approved" words and thoughts, and that IS EVIL in it's purest form. It also leaves a space for unscrupulous people to pick away at peoples uncertainties and exploit the "what if's" that have always haunted our species. Facebook is a private site, Twitter is a private site. Both require registration, both have TOS you have to agree to to use their service. Nexus is no different.
  2. If you CPU is at 100%, and the GPU is only at 60..... Then yeah, a better processor will give you better framerates. The game is indeed CPU intensive.
  3. He approached Elon Musk about just such a project. Here's hoping that Elon told him "Not just no, but FRAK no." :D Trump needs to fade from the scene like a bad smell. Go back to doing what he was before he entered the political scene, and stay off TV as well. Hopefully, that will actually happen. After some of the crap he has pulled lately, you would think that no one would want to be even remotely associated with him..... 6 more days to inauguration.. Wouldn't it be nice if that were the end of it? (no, I am not holding my breath on that.)
  4. I agree. The folks posting are the ones that should be responsible for what they post, not the folks hosting it. (and it can be removed if it is found to be violating some rule or other.) Trouble is, folks can post from literally anywhere, and laws are not uniform across the globe. So, what may be illegal in one country, is perfectly fine in another. (child marriage, for instance, or even age of consent.....) So, the solution to that is holding the hoster responsible for what gets posted to their site? Only in America could such an idiotic notion take root...... :D
  5. By that reasoning, since Nexus does indeed censor content on this site, they should be held accountable for anything uploaded here???? Hhhmmm.... So, when Schaken, (or, however it's spelled) uploaded his 'teen dolls' mod, Nexus should have immediately been shut down, and sued for hosting child porn??

I noticed recently in right-wing forums and media outlets there is an ongoing debate about Trump's Twitter account being permanently suspended. There seems to be a complete misunderstanding about what constitutes protected speech and the laws that we have lived under on the internet for almost the past 3 decades. Regardless of Twitter being owned by a private corporation which in turn gives such an entity the prerogative to suspend and ban users without any repercussions for discriminately doing so. Also regardless of the fact that even free speech has it's limitations, as the classic example where one can't get away claiming yelling "Fire!" in a crowded theater as protected speech when there is no actual fire. The recent debate seems to focus on Section 230 of Title 47 of the United States Code. Vigorous Trump supporters have been claiming that because Twitter permanently suspended Trump's account that Twitter no longer should be protected by Section 230 protections. To my understanding, even if this was the case it would most likely put a burden on twitter to police it's user activity even more on their platform if everything that is posted could make them be held liable (leading to Trump's account being permanently suspended anyways). Sometimes I don't even understand how illogical these people can be when it comes to trying to defend Trump for any of his actions. Trump has recently floated around the idea of creating his own social media platform since every other known platform with high user traffic seems to intervene or outright remove the misinformation and dangerous rhetoric that Trump has posted within his presidency. There basically is no longer a GOP. The republican party and those who blindly follow Trump are willing to give up anything and everything to follow him as their dictator. Even if over half the republicans who support Trump will indiscriminately listen to anything and believe everything Trump says, there is no more hope in trying to save the republican party. Just like Trump being in his 70's, the GOP has gotten to the old age where it's likely not going to change now either, even if Trump will no longer be President soon. I see that idea pretty much in line with Dem thinking though. They want gun manufacturers to be held accountable for what folks do with their product, regardless of how the perpetrator of some action came about being in possession of said product. By that reasoning, I should be able to sue the auto manufacturer for a drunk drivers actions, or a car-jackers actions for that matter. It's downright idiotic. Of course, as it's coming out of the beltway, I am just not surprised. Seems that folks there live in some alternate reality, that has little or no resemblance at all to what the rest of us live. I think that has become far more prevalent that last decade or so..... Personally, I think holding a platform accountable for what their users post on it is stupid. Like the law that was passed not so very long ago that made online singles sites responsible for what their users put up.... (to wit: marketing under-age girls for sex....) Expecting some platform or other to be able to 'police' their MILLIONS of users, is just a bit unrealistic. Craigslist responded by simply nuking their personals section altogether.....

Trump was quiet because he was banned from Twitter. :D (and likely other places as well.) I think expecting him to EVER 'see the error of his ways' is extremely unlikely. He is in his 70's, and this is how he has been all his life. (I blame his parents. :) ) He isn't Ebenezer Scrooge, he isn't going to be visited by any ghosts, and he most certainly isn't going to change how he is. I think you were being overly optimistic. :D

Oh. Gee. Trump is staying consistent in his behavior. And you are surprised when?? And: Don't hold your breath on that. This one promises to keep us entertained for some time yet.....

...I also don't see the dems, or votes for them, 'saving' democracy. I find it much more likely that the results will be an acceleration of the degradation of our society, and further division in this nation. The events at the captiol a few days ago are indicative of a much deeper divide that is apparent on the surface. I don't see that changing, I only see it getting worse, and even more evident. The dems are essentially going to have a free hand in determining policy for at least the next two years. Only time will tell if that is good/bad/indifferent.... the problem is that you can vote only for dems or reps. but this time it was dems (incl. some reps and non voters) vs trump. i think this is not so difficult to to understand and colourwheels is right with the highest turn out. and if you followed what happened on 6th of jan and all of trumps democracy and election hostile anouncements before the election i'm sure that many people realized at this point that trump fights for his ego and not for any political agenda. in fact i'm sure these elections saved democracy at least for the next four years. apart from possible interference of racists or terrorists there is no doubt about that. trump is clearly responsible for the storm of the capitol but he did also a thoroughly and unique job in preventing to give any support to his successor or to ease the takeover. i'm happy about this awareness of the american majority right in time. it sounds like arnie read my mind... so true! please watch this before you continue this debate! thank you! he says what has to be said by all true american patriots and reps. and this is the spirit which must be an inseparable part of any true presidential candidate! because this is a gaming site some weird stuff from facists claiming antifa members were part of the capitol rioters. facists presented this dishonored game symbol as antifa related. just another qanon or whatever facist fairy tail... dishonored 2 is a beautiful game and it is pure bulls**t to put it in relation to antifa. i'm sure this rioter below received no suprenatural skills like emily There was a Libertarian on the ballot where I vote running for president. I had three choices. https://ballotpedia.org/Libertarian_Party_presidential_nomination,_2020 And did he get ANY electoral college votes? My guess would be "No".... Which is the problem with voting for some third party candidate. They simply don't stand a chance, so, you are essentially throwing away your vote.
  10. This political philosophy is a good philosophy that would work on a small Island or an extremely small country with a small enough population where everyone who lives there shares the same cultural values. The problem with Anarcho-capitalism is it could not possibly work in any large nation or anywhere that is extremely populated. With more people there is always more problems, conflicting beliefs, values, etc... The more people in a nation the more complex things are and simply trying to have a system where everything is privatized only one can imagine all the things that could go wrong when just looking at how things are in every large nation around the world now. This is just my own opinion about it, although I will admit I am no where close to being some scholar on this political philosophy. I gotta agree with this sentiment. For small communities, that weren't real technologically advanced (very little required infrastructure), it might work, but, get beyond a certain population point, and/or a certain level of technology, and it all goes out the window. Too much 'stuff' that needs to be paid for, and maintained, that not every individual is going to have a vested interest in. Schools for those with no children.... Health care facilities for those that are healthy, etc.
  11. What kind of games do you like? I know the TES games, you can change the font size in an ini file.....

it was and it is irrelevant what the dems promise or promised. biden was not voted because of his brilliance (but that does not exclude that he is). the high rate of votes ruled the latest elections. reps have not lost too many votes but the number of people not accepting trump, and this is the majority in the u.s., was aware that these elections are very important to save democracy, not the dems. i don't know why reps trusted and supported trump so long and why some still do. this was their biggest mistake. simply the negative influence of trump switched a red state into a blue state. i hope reps will do better next time and they will learn from that and chose a capable candidate instead of a narcissist even if they will have to live without the qanon and racists and some other extremists votes. if reps are unable to win their internal fight for independence against trump they will accelerate their own destruction and we will see instead a pure trump and friends party which will continue the fight for the destruction of the republic. I will grant you that Trumps behavior most certainly played a role in his defeat...... But, that is not the only factor in the elections. Highly likely we will never know folks motivation for voting the way they did. A wouldn't trust a poll on the topic. Too many folks with vested interests in making sure that their perspective is seen as 'the truth'..... When in reality, there is no truth here. I also don't see the dems, or votes for them, 'saving' democracy. I find it much more likely that the results will be an acceleration of the degradation of our society, and further division in this nation. The events at the captiol a few days ago are indicative of a much deeper divide that is apparent on the surface. I don't see that changing, I only see it getting worse, and even more evident. Of course not. It's the nature of the beast. Once the people figure out they can vote themselves free money, it's pretty much the beginning of the end. The dems promise exactly that, and they got elected. (didn't help the republicans any that Trump isn't exactly a fine example of a human being....)
  14. Get the 10700KF instead. Only difference between the 2 is that the KF has a disabled GPU. Which you won't be needing with a dedicated graphics card. It's also cheaper. (around 30 bucks here) Does the KF still do hyper-threading though? I know my 9700KF doesn't.... But, an eight core is still an eight core. :D
  15. Well, it IS technically considered "hazardous materials", and if you lived in California, it would be carcinogenic. :) So, supposedly, you can't just throw it in the trash....... If there is a battery wholesale, or similar store near you, they should be able to take it off your hands.
  16. Yep, that's a dead cmos battery. They are less than five bucks, and you can get them just about everywhere. Even the local drug store. :) Quick and easy to replace, reset your bios, and the problem is gone for a couple more years. :D

Are we going to start doing this every election though? We can go all the way back to the 2000 elections, when George Bush was accused of 'stealing the election'. And ever since then, there is a hue and cry from the losers after EVERY election. It's getting kinda old... Of course, I don't think we have actually had an honest election for a couple decades in any event. Nor do I expect to see one again in the foreseeable future.

We aren't a democracy, we are a republic. Trump did OK, for the most part, right up until it was pointed out to him that he did NOT win the election. Then, he just lost it. The last few weeks have shown that he really isn't a 'good' candidate for president. Not any more. Folks are still supporting him because he is still president, and quite likely, some of those folks in DC are still hoping to get something from him for their support. What that would be, I have no idea. He is a Lame Duck at this point, and it seems the most he can hope to accomplish is executing some folks on the federal death row. For the most part, he is done. He isn't going to be able to retain power after the 20th....... and as it begins to appear that the dems won the run-off elections in Georgia, the dems will have the presidency, and a majority in both houses of congress. Promises to be an interesting next four years. I am not looking forward to it. You think Trump did some damage? Biden has the potential to do a great deal more.
  19. Processor is great, ram is good, as is the vid card. I think you will want more ram for streaming, and maybe a meaner vid card.... (2070? 2080?) As it sits, it will run the games GREAT. :D
  20. HeyYou

    Trump

Mine showed up. Rumor has it though, that Biden is calling this a 'down payment', and his priority will be to get us the rest of it once he is in office. I find it counter-intuitive to say "No" to free money. :D
  21. PC Part Picker is a good resource. Of course, the problem is, the NVidia 30 series cards don't seem to be available anywhere at all....... One would think they would restock at some point, but, so far, I haven't seen that happen....... The 20 series cards still seem to be out there, and are decent performance..... but, if you wanna do streaming, you are going to need a pretty mean card/processor/lots of ram.
  22. i think i have not missed anything . no hate is good. why trump ? there were better and more capable rep candidates in in the last decades like mccain i would have voted for. you voted for trump just to learn that plain populism does not qualify for presidency ? the good thing: at least trump opened the eyes of many rep voters and even many people in the rep party. the only good thing about this presidency. but my question "why do you prefer a rep agenda full of trump populism in favor of the dem agenda?" is still not answered. some arguments would really help here. Nope, wasn't going to vote for McCain, he would have had us in a war with Iran in pretty short order. We didn't need any more wars at that point. (and we don't need any more now either......) I have detailed why I won't vote democrat numerous times throughout this thread. I voted for Trump, (well, really, I voted AGAINST hillary.....) because he was the republican candidate at the time. I didn't get to choose whom they ran, I was given a choice between two candidates for president, and I picked the one I disliked the least. I really didn't care for Hilary's platform/vision for america either. This time around, I had a choice of Biden, and the dem agenda, or Trump, and the republican agenda. I still prefer the republican agenda... so, I voted for trump. Quite likely, in 24, I will still prefer the republican agenda, and will vote for whomever runs on the republican ticket. Even if it is Trump, as distasteful as that will be. And yes, if Trump runs again, I expect he will lose. I'll still vote for him, as I really do NOT want the dems in charge. We'll see what damage Biden/Harris does to the country over the next four years.....
  23. Not to mention they are just as likely to kill you, as whomever is attacking..... It seems NPCs and the AI just don't seem to understand "Area of Effect" weapons. (to include grenades.....)
  24. Just scrapping stuff shouldn't cause any trouble. If you use a scrapping mod though, that *might* be problematic. (some moreso than others....) If you are crashing consistently in one area..... check and see what mods you are running that affect that area. Go from there.
