That's depressing. Probably means my 3DSMax 2013 won't be able to edit/create meshes for the game??

I would guess "Pretty Good", but, may have to wait until after the CK releases.

Yep. I go back to Novell.... Server O/S... and windows 3.1 (not to mention DOS 6.22.... the illegal version from MS. ) And up to win 11.... I did some unix scripting way back when, and that was FUN. Talk about a POWERFUL language. Holy Smokes..... But, at home, I still prefer windows, even with all its warts. :D

Windows 8.... If I wanted a tablet operating system, I would have bought a tablet...... Windows 10 and up.... (rumor has it 12 is coming in summer....) Yep, they collect a LOT of telemetry. I see them as spyware masquerading as an operating system. You can turn off a lot of it, but, there is other stuff that you can't turn off. And some of the stuff that you *can* turn off, doesn't really turn off..... If you sign in with a microsoft account, it's even worse..... With a local account, at least most of the data is anonymous. But, I like to play games.... and getting them to work on windows is a easiest. I tried various linux distro's, but, too many compromises to get my games to run. So, windows it is. Linux IS user-friendly.... I just ain't one of its friends.

Imagine what you would look like coming OUT of battle.... carrying 20 or 30 long guns.

Well, something isn't right, or it would be working.... So you have any sTestfile#= in your StarfieldCustom.ini?

I doubt much can or will be done with this game.

Beth is absolutely notorious for their games being rather buggy at release. This isn't anything new. What disturbs me about the whole thing though, is they supposedly took the better part of a year to 'polish' the game. Yet some of the bugs were glaringly obvious.... Missing Ship technicians, etc.... How they could NOT encounter these bugs is beyond me. At this point, we have mods that address a fair few of them, mainly because modders don't have to go thru the QA process that beth does to release a patch.... and modders are fixing them piecemeal. One mod, one bug. I would like to think that Beth will fix a bunch of 'em in any forthcoming patch..... but, I have been disappointed before. There were game-breaking bugs in Morrowind that Beth NEVER fixed.... That said, the game actually worked, right out of the gate. Yes, there were some issues, however, I don't recall any that were actually game breaking. (quest breaking, yeah, but, not the whole game.) Auto manufacturers have been doing the same thing for decades. Most of their products work as advertised, however, there are always some underlying issues..... and the more complicated the product becomes, the more issues are seen. Chevrolet recently stopped selling its Blazer cute-ute, because of those issues...... -
Do you have SFSE installed? Are you starting the game with SFSE_Loader?

How do you propose folks that 'don't have access to mods' get access to patches? All either needs is an internet connection....... So far as I know, NO mod site restricts users from any specific region. Granted, if you have crappy internet, that makes things a bit more difficult, but, if you are downloading a 125GB game, your internet can't be THAT bad. That said, yep, the game has bugs, and those need to be fixed. The number of loading screens though? Not sure it is possible to fix that..... We shall see what Beth does in their next update...... -
What else could I do to fix my windows 10 pc?
HeyYou replied to InDarkestNight's topic in Hardware and software discussion
Nothing new there. A lotta folks were rather put out when no one made win 7 drivers for the 7th gen chipset as well. :D -

October of 2025 for windows 10. For me, a simple bios update got my machine ready for win 11. But, I haven't 'upgraded' as yet..... -
They didn't have the full 50 years, if they had, we wouldn't see the generation ships arriving at Paradiso. But, that said, you are correct. There should be Earth critters on just about every planet. Dogs, cats, cows..... maybe horses, and goats, etc....

Theoretically, the game should have native support for an xbox controller. For the PS controller though? No idea there. Maybe some middleware that makes it configurable? Either that, or try the in-game menu, and see if it recognizes buttons/sticks from the controller.

Modders and their impact on the video game industry
HeyYou replied to h3cch3's topic in General Chat
I would put forth that mods improved every game they were applied to. Mods made Oblivion playable for me. I hated the vanilla game, but, once FCOM was installed, oh my. Hundreds of hours. :D -

If mods can make the game better, why not mod even a 'bad' game? Beth is notorious for taking ideas created by modders, and incorporating them in their next game... They have even hired a few modders..... Starfield has the potential to be a modders paradise..... Give it a year or three after the CK releases, and you will see some amazing content for the game. -
Probably. Most of the mechanics are already there..... just need the CK to make it work properly.
-
No mod should be hard-coded into anything. Modding is about choice, removing that choice is not a good thing. I haven't done a lot with outposts though, and I don't know that I have ever had to actually repair anything..... But, I do agree, that if you have crew at your outpost, with anything resembling the right skills, they should repair the broke stuff, even if you aren't there. (assuming they have the materials to do so.) Repair robots definitely should be a thing. Do you have defenses set up at your outpost???

1GB is 1024MB..... There is essentially no limit to how much RAM a 64 bit OS can support. There IS, however, a limit to how much RAM your proc, and mainboard can support. Install too much... and weird things happen. So, don't do that. (there is also likely a per slot RAM limit..... don't ask how I learned that one.)

Small Block Chevy? -
So, go to Whiterun. Go hunting. Collect deer, and elk hides. Mine some iron. (there are several mines nearby) Then use those materials to make armor of some description, level up your smithing, so you can make better stuff... improve YOUR weapons and armor. Lather, rinse, repeat. You can make several levels pretty easy that way, build up your smithing skill so your weapons and armor are better, and even on Hard, the game gets easier.

A better graphics card will always run graphics better. I am unsure if a 32 bit application would be able to make full use of more than 4GB of VRAM though, I know it can't use any more system ram than 4gb..... But, you play other games too, right? That 2gb card will REALLY be holding you back on more recent titles.

So I started making a mod, but hit a roadblock....
HeyYou replied to matilija's topic in Starfield's Mod Ideas
NOT an angle I would really want to see that from. -
I was working on a Dwemer ruin for morrowind, and put a couple elevators in there..... Three floors, that were selectable. You could go to any floor, from any floor. (scripted, of course) Worked great.

Pretty sure the double-spacing is a forum 'feature'. I don't know if its user configurable or not. I just let the size of the window determine when text wraps... or I am starting on another thought/topic, I'll start new paragraph. (with the double spacing... hhhmmm.....) -
[Mod Request] Functional Ship Navigation Consoles
HeyYou replied to JoeCoolinsc's topic in Starfield's Mod Ideas
A better interface with a search feature, color coded systems/planets for those you not been to, those you have visited, those you have surveyed, etc.
