MS doesn't want you to have a local account though. They WANT you to have an MS account, so they can sell your data, and get paid for targeted advertising. (Via your O/S..... hhhhmmmmm........) Used to be, you could use [email protected] as the email address for your MS account, enter anything at all for the password, and it would give you an "Ooops", and let you set up a local account. Last time I tried that though, it didn't wanna work. Had to resort to command line methods..... If you do Shift+F10, at any point before logging in with your MS account, (during initial setup) it will open a command windows. Type in "oobe\bypassnro" (no quotes) the machine will restart, and when you get to the sign-in for the MS account, the option for "I don't have Internet" will be there. Unless, of course, you are already connected...... (ethernet cable, or whathaveyou) Windows will whine at you every now and again to 'complete setup', and want you to sign in with an MS account, but, that's easy to bypass as well. :D

Should be a setting for that somewhere.... I don't remember where though. If you sign in with an MS account though, I don't think you CAN turn that off.... There was a video on youtube some time back..... a guy turned off all the telemetry that win 10 gave him the option for, but, windows was still phoning home, 2500 times an hour....... or something equally as silly.

MS may have discontinued support for some versions of 11, but, the latest version is still supported, and 11 in general should be supported for several years yet. 10 runs out of support completely on Oct, 2025.... updates for reinstalls will still be available, but, there won't be any new updates. (except for defender, I would expect.)

Windows 10 and up are spyware masquerading as operating systems.

I can't find squat either..... See if you can find a different cabin to use....

If it still works, and is actually PCIe..... give it a shot.

Anything in the other two slots? Pick the soundblaster of your choice. Even if it is an x1 card, it will still work in the x16 slot.

I see three PCIe x16 slots, and one x1 slot... No pci slots, and no, the two are not compatible. (assuming your sound card is PCI.) You can put a PCIe x1 in in x16 slot, and it'll work just fine. So, time for a new sound card?

If folks were making money from it, yeah, I can see how that would not be good. (patently illegal in any event) But, for free mods? I have a lot less of a problem with that.

Can you change your load order??

I like it. Just need a case to put it all in. That'll be a beast of a machine, and will last you for years. :D

Go into your bios, and see if there is an option for the function key. Generally, it defaults to On, and you have to press it to get the F keys. Turn it off, and pressing F1, will actually do what F1 normally does in game.

There was a mod for fallout 4 that slowed time passage while in build mode. Worked great if you started in the early morning..... but, it made nights last longer too. Likely something along those lines will show up for starfield as well.

That *should* work..... unless the rat doesn't die on impact. (short fall height.)

Ouch. One of the reasons I have a gas stove. I can make coffee regardless of if I have power or not. Not 100%, but, I *think* there was a scripting command to drop something to the ground..... Don't know if that exists for Starfield yet.

Drop a marker first? Place it fairly high, then drop it to the ground. Spawn your npc at the marker. (I used to do this in morrowind, used a dead rat as the marker. :D)

Yeah, but, if you spawn someone in at 100, the fall will likely kill them. :D

If you use a mod manager, uninstall all of your mods. Uninstall the game. Delete the Starfield folders in your SteamApps\Common, My Documents\My Games, (back up your saves first) and appdata\local. (hidden folder, need to show hidden folders.) Reboot your machine. (just for giggles.) Reinstall JUST the game. Start the game. See if it starts.

Have you read the service agreement for your O/S? Were you aware that MS collects telemetry via your O/S? Upon installation/initial setup, there are options for "Some" of the data that MS wants, however, there is a fair bit that MS collects, and they don't give you a choice. And you agree to it when you click on "accept" for the license agreement. Windows 10, and 11, ARE spyware. They just happen to be masquerading as an operating system.

Current system wouldn't be bad either......
