MS isn't going to take down the existing updates for 7, those will remain for the foreseeable future, you just aren't going to get any new ones. I can still get updates for windows XP via windows update........ (you have to let it automatically check for updates, as I don't think the web-based interface works very well any more.) Yes, I still have customers that are running windows XP...... Been a while since I have seen a Win 98 box...... at least, one that wasn't going to be scrapped..... Think it was early last year. :D And I thought I was resistant to change.......

We evidently need to study more SCIENCE! :D

Valid point. :) Makes ya wonder how the other fusion generators work then. Of course, expecting 'consistency' from bethesda IS a bit of a stretch. :D

Sort of ditto but I came to a different conclusion. My Windows 7 machine got ill and I didn't fancy fixing it myself - it returned from base with Windows 10. We got along uneasily for a while but then Windows 10 did a huge update which made it extremely difficult to disable Cortana. Oh Cortana - let me count the ways I despised you! Whatever you do don't move to Windows 10 unless you're sure that's what you want because rolling back is difficult (or it was for me). I found the easiest way was to use Linux to reformat the disk in order to reinstall Windows 7. But then I decided to stick with Linux in any case... I expect even now MS is weeping profusely at the loss of me as a user... For win 10, it's all about initial setup. Cortana doesn't bother me at all. I simply declined her services when I installed win 10. Most of the annoying features can be turned off, including notifications. :) I don't know if you can change your mind once windows is installed though..... (so far as Cortana is concerned.... I would think you can.... but, it hasn't been a concern for me, so, I haven't checked into it.) If I could have went with 7, instead of 10, I would have, but, on recent hardware (last few years,,,,, for intel, anything 7th gen or later) there simply aren't any drivers for win 7. According to theory, there are some folks working on them, but, so far, I haven't seen anything that works as well as I would like, and I am simply too lazy to try and convince some flavor of 'ix' to run my games. :D

I always thought that the fusion cores were plugging into fusion generators.... and while installed there, were actually being charged..... (as the fusion generators without fusion cores look pretty much the same.) So maybe the one in the basement of Museum of Freedom in Concorde is defective?? (it only has about 50% charge when ya grab it.)

Haha.. Not yet my friend, I will be teaching myself to do so in the short future! I may practice on the piece I done for you - I will let you know  - Edge :D Thanks Man. :)

Thing is though that if we were to treat power armor the way it's built to be in this game then it will be very overpowered. Being too high in strength and making you invulnerable to small arms fire is kind of too much. There has to be a tradeoff so that would be something I'd have to think about if I were to venture down that path. But yea, PA is just really weak in this game especially compared to normal clothes. I think the balance would be to make it rare, requiring rare resources to keep it functioning, and not having Fusion Cells simply laying about every time you turn around. :D Folks that would have it, would need to have a pretty well established base, with appropriate facilities, and resources, to keep the suit in usable form. The frame itself being the hardest part to keep going, as the rest of it (aside from the helmet) just kinda hangs off of it. You would need the correct perks, in various disciplines, to be able to keep it in 100% repair, and without them, you may not be able to repair it at all.

There are several bull-pup style rifles available as mods. Aug-Steyr, Famas somethingorother, etc. Some are available individually, others as part of a larger package. (modern firearms......)

There was the "Pip-pad" mod.... turns the pipboy into essentially a tablet.

I liked the way damage worked in New Vegas. If the projectile didn't do enough damage to exceed your damage resistance, it was basically ineffective. Some very small amount of damage was transferred, but, for the most part, a high enough damage resistance would make you invulnerable to most small arms. That system made a LOT more sense to me. Sure, your armor is going to take some damage, and that will degrade protection, and eventually destroy the armor. But, it seems only power armor has the problem in the commonwealth. It's beth though. So, I don't expect well thought out combat systems, locational damage that is meaningful, etc. They have been getting better.... but, there is still work to be done. I like the idea of power armor having a fixed strength rating, rather than simply adding a couple points to the players. That makes FAR more sense to me than the way it currently works. After all, the strength of the person wearing the suit, is not going to change the mechanical dynamics of how the suit works. Doesn't matter if the occupant is 250 pound muscle-head, or a 120 pound weakling. The suit is mechanical, it really doesn't care how strong you are. I could see having to shed your bulky armor to use power armor, but, I am not going to jump into it in my skivvies...... That would be a tad embarrassing (and potentially quite dangerous) if I had to jump out to hack a terminal, or deal with folks in a town/settlement. And no, I am not going to jump out in public, and then get dressed..... Street clothes/vault suit, should fit fine in power armor, at the very least. One would think that light armor might be doable as well. And I am sure I can still put my backpack on, whilst in PA.....

I ran windows XP for years after updates stopped. I turned off updates in win 7 when MS was pushing win 10 down everyones throat. I never bothered to turn them back on. I HAD to go to win 10 when I rebuilt my machine. (it died....) Not happy about it, but, hey, what can ya do? :D

Suppose that would depend on why someone was taken. Spoilers: Then you have a different case with: You get to see those few direct situations during your play through. As to why they don't explain it - well, I would expect with replacement cases, the originals are killed. Not exactly someone you want to outright state to someone you've just been told is your new boss and happens to be one of the most dangerous people you've likely ever met. There's likely others like that last one that have been conducted over time, Kellogg for his skills, despite his role mainly leaving him on the surface (likely preferable for both parties). Typical Bethesda endgame playing. You get a little acknowledgement and some nifty gear, home or companion. That's about it. Most of the divisions seem to self sufficient in their structure anyway, so I doubt there's much to do unless someone causes a problem. - because then you wouldn't be able to do it (if you are playing that way). The general idea is that the railroad was seen as a minor annoyance and generally not worth the time. Especially since they already took a massive hit prior to you joining (losing Switchboard and other safehouses, plus agent deaths). It's only very recently that they apparently started "upping their game" and being more direct. Plus the initial lack of knowing where they had moved to since the attack, since they likely lost track of the factions leadership after the attack. Was probably a point they had thought the Railroad was gone, since the group would take some time in hiding to regroup and assess their position. The losses made the surviving Railroad members more determined to get their "job" done faster. Riskier plans, larger amounts of synths being moved at any given time. then there's what happens if you join since you become a major factor in assaults on patrol Synths, confrontations at key locations and interrupting institute plans directly. Once the institute realize the Railroad is still a problem worth looking into, there's a fair chance you've already turned them into a greater problem by joining the group. Yep. The soul survivor is a catalyst for all sorts of mayhem in the commonwealth. Any faction he joins becomes a major threat to other factions. The Minute Men may be relatively safe, so long as you stick to settlement building, and wiping out bad guys on the surface, but, start interfering with the Institute, or BoS, and then a friggin war breaks out. (I am REAL curious where the BoS comes up with all those vertibirds, seems I can't walk two blocks without seeing one blown out of the sky......) Would the commonwealth be a calmer place without the sole survivor sticking his nose into everyones business? I mean, after all, you ARE the catalyst that brings in the BoS. (right after you kill kellogg..... )

Ooooo.... you can do collision? :D

Yep. although with motion assisting servos you get +100 carry weight if I remember correctly. I think with Strength paint and +2 strength on the main armor you get more carry weight from PA. But I agree with your other points. And even if sneaking in PA were good I wouldn't use it for that because it's just simply rediculous to "sneak" in huge bulky armor that clangs every step you take. With regards to the rads in the glowing sea I generally use lead lined mods and BoS armor mods on normal armor and then use a mysterious serum. Lasts long enough for one trip to the Glowing Sea and do the quests there. Or just level up till you get ghoulish and rad healing in sunlight. I even use a mod that increases rad damage in the glowing sea and I don't need a PA or hazmat suit to go there. Yup. Solar powered, and Ghoulish, and radiation becomes a LOT less of an issue. Adamantium skeleton all perked out, makes limb armor redundant. :) (though armor there may still reduce incoming damage.... not sure.) I have a backpack that fully perked out, boosts my carry weight by 150, with that, and strength perks on armor, etc, my carry weight goes down pretty significantly when I crawl into PA.

I don't generally use power armor, as I am also a sneak-based player. Hard to sneak in a giant metal suit. (although, with the right perks, and maybe some legendary effects, you can sneak right past people, in broad daylight, even while wearing power armor.......) I've used it for it's rad resistance in places like Glowing sea, or Far Harbor, but, aside from that, my stats are actually better wearing cloths, and regular armor. I can carry more without the PA as well...... The worst thing about power armor though, to me, is it assumes you are naked under your armor, even though my character is still apparently wearing everything, including my backpack.....

I don't have the coordination to use a controller. They are just TOO sensitive. And if I adjust the sensitivity to where it isn't, then they are too slow. But then, I learned to play on mouse and keyboard, and was never very good with a controller to begin with..... Then having MS didn't do my any favors either. :) My coordination in my right hand is essentially non-existent. Using a mouse is just so much easier. :)

In his second post. He had to tell his anti-virus software that FO4, and FO4SE were allowed to do that kind of thing. Even if you don't use bitdefender, it's possible that your antivirus is what is giving you grief. -
I have blown the legs off ghouls...... and they were still crawling after me....... Talk about single-minded.... But, for the most part, if I am shooting at someone, its either 'dead', or 'still fully functional'. My sniper rifle is the only non-automatic weapon I have, so, there is no firing just one round at a target...... usually it's two or three at a time. Gets their attention right quick. :D

Disable your enb, and see if the door magically reappears. :D Also, when checking if the door is 'fixed' or not, don't load a save that already has that door loaded.

No, I don't think we have any common ground with most folks in the middle east. Their culture/religion is predicated on the destruction of the west. (maybe not originally, but, that sure seems to be the case today.) Of course, they don't like us simply BECAUSE we tend to stick our noses where it doesn't belong. Our government is simply too much in love with themselves, thinking they know what is best for everyone. When they can't even do what's best for our own citizens...... I don't expect that to change anytime soon either. In all reality, I hope Iraq DOES boot ALL the american troops out. Save us a boatload of money.

May wanna post in the game specific mods forum for whatever game it is you are trying to mod. (I have no clue what mhw is. :) )

Oh, don't get me wrong. :) I do NOT like win 10. It represents a direction MS is going, that I do NOT think is going to be good for the consumer...... I have nightmares of 'subscription-based' operating systems coming soon. They are already doing it with office (though you can still buy a copy, and expect it to continue working), only a matter of time before they do the same with their O/S. And since they have such a HUGE market share....... they can pretty much do so, and folks won't have a choice but to pay it. Given my 'druthers.... I'druther have installed Win 7, but, there aren't drivers for the newer hardware out there, that are actually reliable, and stable. (there are some folks in the freeware sector working on it though.) I deal with Win 10 at work every day....... so, I guess I just kinda got used to it. (aversion therapy??) I have been running it a couple months now, and so far, it hasn't been too annoying. But, I turned off most notifications. :) and updates really haven't been an issue either. Maybe I am just lucky? :D
